The Opportunity: Controller

Salary: $100,000- $120,000/ year

As Controller, you’ll have a dynamic and critical role, overseeing all accounting operations in a manner that allows for the accuracy and integrity of all financial reporting. This position reports to the Chief Financial Officer and will work collaboratively with the Senior Accountant, AP Clerk, and Director of Revenue Cycle Management and Director of Real Estate.
This role is about making a difference in the lives of the people we serve. You’ll bring the following qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required; Master’s or CPA/CMA preferred
- 5+ years of senior-level accounting or finance experience (Controller, Assistant Controller, or Senior Accountant)
- Strong financial reporting, budgeting, and forecasting skills
- Public accounting experience preferred
- Advanced knowledge of GAAP and financial standards
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and cloud-based accounting systems
- Strong analytical, organizational, and leadership skills
- Excellent communication and collaboration with cross-functional teams
Key Responsibilities:
- Direct and oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes to ensure timely, accurate financial reporting
- Prepare and analyze financial statements, budgets, forecasts, and variance reports for leadership and the Board of Directors
- Partner with the CFO on strategic planning, budgeting, audits, and compliance with GAAP and regulatory requirements
- Manage general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll functions to ensure accurate accounting operations
- Oversee grant budgets and reporting to ensure funds are used according to grant requirements and timelines
- Monitor cash flow and assist with investment and funding decisions
- Develop and maintain internal controls and accounting procedures to safeguard assets and improve efficiency
- Collaborate with program directors to monitor and manage financial performance across departments
- Support the preparation of annual audits, tax filings, and financial submissions to internal and external stakeholders
- Supervise and mentor accounting team members, fostering a culture of accuracy, accountability, and continuous improvement
