Responsibilities:
- Prepare timely and accurate cost reports and variance analyses for internal management, external stakeholders, and regulatory compliance, including Medicare and Medicaid cost reports.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Finance, Revenue Cycle, Accounting, Operations, and Clinical departments, to gather relevant cost data, provide insights, and support decision-making to optimize resource allocation and financial performance.
- Lead and mentor a team of cost reporting and cost accounting professionals, providing guidance, training, and performance management to ensure departmental goals and objectives are met effectively.
- Develop and maintain comprehensive cost accounting systems and processes to accurately capture, allocate, and report costs associated with hospital operations, including direct and indirect costs, labor, supplies, and overhead expenses.
- Monitor industry trends, regulatory changes, and best practices in cost accounting and healthcare finance to identify opportunities for process improvement, cost reduction, and revenue enhancement initiatives.
- Liaise with external auditors, government agencies, and third-party payers to facilitate audits, resolve discrepancies, and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and reimbursement guidelines.
- Participate in special projects and initiatives as assigned by senior management, such as system implementations, financial modeling, and strategic planning exercises, to support organizational goals and objectives.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; Master's degree and/or CPA designation preferred.
- 5 years of progressive experience in cost reporting.
- Knowledge of healthcare reimbursement methodologies, regulatory requirements (e.g., Medicare, Medicaid), and healthcare industry trends required.
- Proficiency in financial analysis, variance analysis, and financial modeling techniques, with advanced skills in Microsoft products.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams, present complex financial information to non-financial stakeholders, and influence decision-making at all levels of the organization.
