We are seeking a strategic and experienced Crop Insurance Operations Manager to lead our Service Center and Express Policy team in delivering efficient, high-quality crop insurance products to both internal and external customers. This role is pivotal in providing technical guidance, operational support, and leadership to ensure customer satisfaction and compliance with industry standards. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in agriculture, insurance operations, and team management.

Key Responsibilities

 

Leadership

  • Lead and manage direct reports, assigning responsibilities and monitoring progress.
  • Provide coaching, performance feedback, and professional development opportunities.
  • Ensure alignment of team goals with core business strategies.
  • Collaborate with leadership to address challenges and improve workflows.

 

Operational Support

  • Oversee Technicians and Express Policy staff, ensuring effective communication and operational excellence.
  • Manage relationships with Approved Insurance Providers (AIPs), including contract review and system access.
  • Support accounting and reporting functions, including commission statement reviews and report generation.
  • Maintain and update internal crop insurance resources and intranet content.
  • Implement and manage new technologies to improve staff efficiency and accuracy.
  • Ensure compliance with licensing and training requirements.

 

Performance Management & Staffing

  • Conduct regular branch visits to coach and mentor staff, identify process improvements, and ensure operational accuracy.
  • Provide ongoing training and support to enhance staff expertise in crop insurance.
  • Align staffing resources with company goals and business needs.

 

Qualifications

 

Education

  • High school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred; preferred majors include Agriculture, Business, or related fields.
  • Equivalent insurance industry experience may be considered in lieu of degree. 

 

Experience

  • Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in agriculture, finance, or insurance.
  • Proven experience in crop insurance operations and team leadership is preferred

 

Skills

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and insurance software systems.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to learn and implement new processes quickly.
  • Team-oriented with a collaborative mindset.
  • Deep understanding of insurance principles, regulations, and servicing activities.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and presentation skills.

 

Licensing & Compliance

  • Must obtain and maintain a crop insurance sales license.
  • Fulfill all State and Federal continuing education requirements.
  • Be qualified to sell all crop insurance products offered by the service center.
