Advanced Physical Therapy is looking for a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) / Laser Technician to join our clinic in Anchorage, AK.


The CMA/Laser Technician provides clinical and technical support. This dual-role position is responsible for assisting providers with patient care and performing therapeutic laser treatments using the LightForce XPi 25W Deep Tissue Laser System.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Clinical & Administrative (CMA):
    • Prepare patients and treatment rooms for procedures.
    • Handle scheduling, phone calls, and patient inquiries as needed.
    • Maintain clinical supply inventory and ensure a clean, organized environment.
  • Laser Technician Duties (Deep Tissue Therapy):
    • Perform deep tissue laser therapy using the LightForce XPi 25W Deep Tissue Laser System, following established clinical protocols and safety guidelines.
    • Conduct pre-treatment screenings to identify contraindications and ensure patient suitability.
    • Educate patients on the purpose, process, and expected outcomes of laser therapy, including post-treatment care instructions.
    • Apply treatment techniques to target musculoskeletal conditions such as soft tissue injuries, joint pain, inflammation, and post-surgical recovery.
    • Monitor patient comfort, treatment progress, and outcomes; promptly report concerns to the supervising provider.
    • Maintain accurate and timely treatment documentation within Prompt EMR.
    • Clean, inspect, and calibrate the LightForce XPi laser system according to manufacturer and clinic standards.
    • Ensure strict adherence to laser safety protocols, including use of protective eyewear and compliance with OSHA and state regulations.

Qualifications:

  • Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) credential required, or in process.
  • Completion of LightForce laser therapy training or willingness to complete training upon hire (required).
  • Prior experience in a medical, physical therapy, or rehabilitation setting preferred.
  • Knowledge of laser therapy applications, contraindications, and safety protocols strongly preferred.
  • Excellent communication, patient care, and customer service skills.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks in a busy clinic environment.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand for extended periods and assist in patient positioning.
  • Ability to lift/move up to 25 lbs. occasionally.
  • Manual dexterity for equipment handling and clinical procedures.
  • Exposure to laser equipment with strict adherence to safety protocols.
