Under the general supervision of the Director of Facilities Project Management and in association with Campus Stewardship and University Operations, assist clients in development of projects from initial concepts to final design and cost estimates in compliance with USNH and UNH policies, purchasing procedures and building codes. In addition, Project Management responsibilities will include, but not be limited to: planning, management of design professionals, procurement of contractors, and management of construction projects across the campus. These services will support both capital construction projects as well as standalone independent projects as assigned by the Director. Additional requirements and responsibilities will include coordination between the Facilities Project Management Department and external design professionals as well as the review of consultant construction documents for quality assurance and compliance with University Construction Guidelines. Work with USNH purchasing to procure vendors. Manage procurement contracts, vendors, manage the project budget and process all invoices and change orders.
Duties/Responsibilities
Project Manager with architectural/interior design experience for small to medium projects. (25%)
Develop programs with campus clients to identity needs/problems and develop project programs and concepts for repair and renovation projects.
Work with professional design consultants overseeing preparation of architectural/engineering construction documents,
based on concepts, for repair end renovation projects in support of Facilities
Project Management Project Managers.
Manage external design consultants to produce coordinated construction
drawings for construction projects. Manage the design and construction
administration through project closeout including but not limited
to the management and filing of all as-built project documentation for
permanent archives.
Present and review detailed designs with clients,
project managers and campus constituents to assure program, design
concept objectives and University Construction Standards are met.
Provide technical support and research regarding materials, components and
construction techniques used on UNH facility projects.
Contact and work with vendors to obtain pricing information and with purchasing to coordinate bid information.
Project Manage general construction projects that may incorporate, some if not all, the construction divisions. (75%)
Support campus move projects, including capital, small and medium sized projects.
Meet with campus clients to determine scope of work, estimate project cost, including design, installation, furniture, equipment, moving and other
expenses.
Manage project specifications and general conditions into coordinated big package.
Create Project budgets.
Communicate with the client, contractors and vendors as to the progress of the
project.
Administer contracts with outside vendors to ensure contractors and
supplier’s work conforms to contract requirements, and resolve issues as needed.
Initiate purchase orders and change orders, track project expenses against budgets, identify
and resolve problems in financial records and vendor payments.
Negotiate cost of changes in work and approve invoices for payment.
Collaborate with University Architect to select finishes, carpets, and other details as needed.
Coordinate/serve as UNH representative for projects contracted with outside
firms.
Coordinate staff training by vendors.
Provide design review of work done by outside firms to assure compliance with UNH construction
guidelines.
Requirements
Minimum Acceptable Education & Experience:
Associates degree in construction technology, building science, or related field and six years of related experience as manager for building renovation or alteration project, or Bachelor’s and four years of experience, or
combination of education and experience equal to eight years.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Knowledge of construction materials, means, and methods.
Familiarity with building and life safety codes.
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Ability to wear/use personal protective equipment as needed on a construction site.
Proficient in Microsoft Office, Adobe for design and as-built documentation support for all small and medium sized construction projects.
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in science, engineering, architecture, or related field.
Experience in a college/university setting.
