Position:
The Accounting Lead Clerk plays a vital role in overseeing daily accounting operations and supporting the development of team members. This position ensures the accuracy of financial transactions, drives process improvements, and acts as a liaison between the accounting team and other departments. The ideal candidate is proactive, detail-oriented, and capable of mentoring others while effectively managing individual responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise and support the daily tasks of the Accounting Clerk, ensuring accuracy and timely completion.
- Monitor and reconcile client payments; investigate and resolve discrepancies.
- Review and correct files submitted by Client Care, Retention, Legal, and other departments.
- Manage and monitor inboxes related to payments, refunds, and NOCS.
- Develop, implement, and maintain financial policies and procedures.
- Identify and implement opportunities for operational efficiency and process improvement.
- Monitor and analyze accounting data; produce financial reports or statements as needed.
- Maintain and regularly update SOPs and training documentation.
- Provide coaching, training, and mentorship to team members.
- Conduct weekly call listening sessions and provide performance feedback.
- Monitor adherence to policies and escalate issues as necessary.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve client or payment-related issues.
- Participate in internal audits and ensure compliance with internal controls and regulatory requirements.
- Demonstrates a strong commitment to meeting and exceeding key performance indicators (KPIs) related to accuracy, timeliness, and productivity, while leading by example to foster a culture of accountability and continuous improvement within the team.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Requirements
- At least two (2) years of experience in accounting, finance, or a related administrative role.
- Prior experience in a lead or supervisory capacity is preferred.
- High school diploma. College degree or equivalent preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Google Sheets, and accounting software (training provided).
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to coach, mentor, and support team members.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
- High attention to detail and accuracy in managing financial data.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
- Ability to manage time effectively, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
