MAJOR FUNCTION:
Non-licensed person who assists in the nursing care of patients, taking direction and guidance from the Director, RN, or physician. Provides and maintains a safe, clean environment in the Wound Care Center. Reviews clinical documentation and diagnostic results to extract data and apply appropriate ICD and CPT codes for billing, internal and external reporting, research, and regulatory compliance. Accurately bills patient accounts, submits accurate claims, ensures timely reimbursement and confirming proper documentation is occurring in the patient accounting system.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education & Experience:
- High school education or its equivalent. Able to read, write and speak English. Medical coding education preferred.
- Previous experience or training as a certified EMT, medical assistant, nursing assistant, paramedic or RN student (completed first year) preferred.
- Phlebotomy experience preferred.
- Experience utilizingICD-10-CM and CPT-4 coding to bill for charges required.
Certification/Licensure:
- Current BLS (American Heart Association) required.
- Medical coding certification preferred.
