Job Title: Attendance Family Coach 

Position Summary:
The Attendance Family Coach is a critical member of the student support team, focused on reducing chronic absenteeism and preventing truancy by building strong relationships with students and families. Through regular home visits, community outreach, and personalized support, the Attendance Family Coach works to identify barriers to attendance and connect families with the resources they need to ensure students are present, engaged, and successful in school.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct regular home visits to students with chronic absenteeism or at risk of truancy.

  • Build trusting relationships with families to understand and address the root causes of absenteeism.

  • Serve as a liaison between the school and families, promoting the importance of daily attendance and educational engagement.

  • Collaborate with school staff, counselors, social workers, MTSS staff, and community partners to develop and implement individualized attendance improvement plans.

  • Monitor attendance data and maintain accurate documentation of visits, communications, and interventions.

  • Provide families with information and referrals to social services, mental health supports, and other relevant community resources.

  • Participate in school-wide attendance initiatives, campaigns, and events aimed at improving student attendance and engagement.

  • Report any concerns regarding student safety or well-being in accordance with school and state guidelines.
  • Drive school vans to transport students or deliver resources as needed.

  • Ensure school vans are regularly cleaned, fueled, and well-maintained.

  • Coordinate routine vehicle maintenance and schedule necessary repairs, working with appropriate vendors or service providers.

  • Conduct basic safety checks and report any vehicle issues promptly to school administration.
  • All other duties as assigned by supervisor 

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate’s or Bachelor's degree in education, social work, or related field preferred.

  • Prior experience working in family outreach, social services, or school-based support roles.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with cultural humility and an ability to engage diverse communities.

  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record; experience operating a passenger van is preferred.

  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds and navigate various neighborhoods for home visits.

  • Bilingual (e.g., Spanish/English).

  • Strong organizational skills, flexibility, and discretion in handling confidential matters.
