We are currently accepting applications for a Payroll Manager to lead our day-to-day, multi-state payroll operations. This role is responsible for ensuring payroll accuracy, tax compliance, and driving process improvements that align with our institutional goals. As Payroll Manager, you will oversee the auditing, processing, and distribution of payroll, while also recommending and implementing best practices to enhance efficiency and accuracy. Job Duties:
Reporting Relationships
This position will report to the Director of Payroll, and will provide secondary oversight for the Payroll Department during the Director’s absence.
Work Setting
Hybrid, with an expectation to be on-campus for training, followed by the opportunity to work 1-2 days remotely following a successful training period.
Work Schedule
Monday – Friday, 8:00am – 4:30pm, with additional hours as needed to complete the work of the position.
What You Will Do
Manage day-to-day business operations and collaborate on system configurations and developing policies & procedures.
Manage all areas of payroll tax compliance including multi-state, non-resident aliens, reporting, adjustments, and balance general ledger tax accounts.
Act as a subject matter expert for all Workday Payroll & Time Tracking configurations assisting the Director in optimizing these modules, resolving system issues, and implementing improvements.
Conduct internal audits to verify payroll accuracy and resolve discrepancies, approving payrolls prior to submission.
Provide guidance and mentorship to payroll staff, fostering a culture of excellence, equity, and accountability including backup support for department staff.
Process bi-weekly payrolls ensuring all transactions and payroll adjustments related to accounting and tax updates.
Provide training and assist employees with payroll related questions including tax elections.

What You Will Bring
Required
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or related field (or equivalent professional experience)
5+ years of progressive payroll experience
Preferred, But Not Required
Experience with large-scale payroll systems and compliance with federal and multi-state regulations.
Experience managing Workday configurations in Payroll & Time Tracking.
Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) or similar certification.
Experience in Higher Education

Ability to manually calculate checks from gross to net for verification of program changes and employee questions.
Proficiency in Excel, Word, Google Docs & Sheets.

Strong organizational skills to work independently and to prioritize a heavy workload under the pressure of competing assignments.
Strong analytical skills, attention to detail and excellent communication abilities.

72,640.00-90,800.00The offer rate will be based on a review of the candidate's credentials compared to the qualifications of the position, internal equity, and our overall compensation philosophy.
This role is not budgeted for visa sponsorship at this time, all candidates must be authorized to work in the US at the time of submission of the application.
