DESCRIPTION
Michael Baker International is seeking a passionate, detail-oriented Bridge Inspector to join our growing UDOT Bridge Inspection Team in Salt Lake City. If you’re excited by the idea of inspecting bridges, contributing to structural safety, and working both in the field and in the office, this is a great opportunity to launch or grow your career in civil engineering.
In this role, you’ll support inspections of various bridge types and may also assist with structural analysis and design tasks. You’ll work closely with Engineers, Technical Managers, and Project Managers on a variety of impactful projects.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist inspection Team Leaders during field inspections to determine the structural condition of bridges and other structures
- Write technical inspection reports and review the work of other staff
- Assist with the preparation of CAD drawings needed for bridge and highway projects, as needed
- Manage schedules and assist Project Managers with meeting project deliverables and budgets
- Build and maintain strong connections with employees, clients, and other collaborators to achieve remarkable results
- Contact local agencies and UDOT maintenance sheds prior to Bridge Inspections
- Other duties as assigned
PROFESSIONAL REQUIREMENTS
- High School diploma/GED required but a higher education degree is preferred
- 0 - 2 years of relevant experience
- Ability to read and interpret plans, specifications, and other contract documents
- Must possess sUAS Part 107 or ability to obtain within 3 months of hire
- OSHA training preferred
- First Aid training preferred
- Must have a valid drivers license
- Must be able to travel up to 3 weeks per month throughout Utah and or surrounding states
- Available for night and weekend work as needed
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
- Commitment to quality, accuracy, safety, and efficiency
- Strong verbal and written English communication skills
- Capable of working at heights, in confined spaces, able to use ladders, and work alongside live traffic
- Safety conscious and responsible for personal and team safety
- Able to use hand tools other equipment necessary for bridges evaluation
- Familiarity with various software packages such as AutoCAD, MicroStation a plus.
COMPENSATION
The salary range for this position is $44,000-$76,000. This compensation range is a good faith estimate for the position at the time of posting. Actual compensation is dependent upon factors such as education, qualifications, experience, skillset, and physical work location.
