About this opportunity

We are seeking a meticulous and proactive IT Compliance Specialist to support our organization’s compliance and risk management initiatives. This role is responsible for conducting IT control testing, ensuring adherence to internal and external standards, and supporting the organization’s pathway to certification. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of IT governance frameworks and a passion for driving continuous improvement in compliance practices.

Pay and Schedule

This position is Monday - Friday 8:00AM to 5:00PM. The pay range is $55,000 to $85,000/year dependent on experience.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct IT control testing to evaluate the design and effectiveness of technical and administrative controls.
• Support the development and implementation of compliance frameworks aligned with ISO 27001, NIST, and other relevant standards.
• Assist in gap analysis, remediation planning, and documentation to prepare for ISO 27001 certification.
• Collaborate with IT, security, and business teams to ensure controls are properly implemented and monitored.
• Maintain and update compliance documentation including policies, procedures, risk registers, and audit evidence.
• Track and report on compliance metrics, audit findings, and remediation progress.
• Support internal and external audits by coordinating evidence collection and responses.
• Stay informed on regulatory changes, industry standards, and best practices in IT compliance and information security.
• Promote awareness and training around compliance requirements and security policies.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
• 3+ years of experience in IT compliance, audit, or risk management.
• Strong understanding of ISO 27001, NIST, SOC 2, or similar frameworks.
• Experience with IT control testing, risk assessments, and audit support.
• Familiarity with IT infrastructure, cloud environments, and security controls.
• Excellent analytical, documentation, and communication skills.
• Certifications such as CISA, CRISC, or ISO 27001 Lead Implementer/Auditor are a plus.

Preferred Skills

• Experience with GRC platforms (e.g., ServiceNow, Archer, LogicGate).
• Knowledge of data privacy regulations (e.g., GDPR, CCPA).
• Exposure to vulnerability management and incident response processes.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple compliance initiatives.
