SUMMARY

The Manufacturing Resource Planner is responsible for expediting the flow of materials, components, and information required for production. This role acts as the liaison between Purchasing, Production, and Sales departments, and external suppliers, making sure that schedules are met, delays are minimized, and finished goods are delivered on time to customers.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Work on-site in Hastings, MI (not a remote position)
  • Monitor and coordinate movement of materials, components, and parts to meet production schedules
  • Assist purchasing department as needed to track supplier deliveries and follow up to resolve shortages, delays, or quality issues
  • Maintain accurate bills of materials (BOMs), item locations, and inventory records in the system
  • Collaborate with purchasing, production, receiving, and material handlers to ensure required inventory is available and accessible
  • Expedite critical orders and proactively communicate potential disruptions to management
  • Assist in managing backlogs, prioritizing work orders, and reallocating resources as needed
  • Review production schedules daily and adjust priorities to align with operational demands
  • Communicate internally to ensure alignment between demand forecasts and supply availability
  • Identify process bottlenecks in material flow and propose corrective actions
  • Organize inventory management efforts (e.g., annual physical inventory and periodic cycle counts)
  • Have mastery of the Company’s ERP system and use it effectively to accomplish tasks
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Comply with and adhere to applicable safety and work rules and requirements
  • Comply with and adhere to all applicable ISO standards

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS OF POSITION

  • Primarily based in a manufacturing facility with frequent interaction with the shop floor and suppliers
  • Regular presence on the production floor, with the ability to tolerate a manufacturing environment that can present fumes, moving mechanical parts, vibration, loud noises and is not air conditioned. Must wear personal protective equipment as determined appropriate by Company management.
  • May require long periods of standing
  • Occasional lifting up to 50 pounds

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS

  • High school diploma or equivalent; associate’s or bachelor’s degree in supply chain, logistics, or related field preferred, or equivalent knowledge developed through work experience
  • Prior experience in manufacturing, supply chain, or materials coordination
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to appropriately prioritize and multitask in a fast-paced environment
  • Proficient with ERP/MRP systems, Microsoft Office Suite, and M365
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skill
  • Problem-solving skills and ability to handle time-sensitive issues
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes and supply chain operations
  • Ability to build relationships with vendors and internal teams
  • Ability to adapt quickly to changing production requirements
