PRIMARY FUNCTION: Under the direction of the Senior Director of Financial Reporting and Accounting, carries out assignments of a broad nature while exercising considerable judgment. Performs independent evaluation in the preparation, application and analysis of various accounting techniques and procedures. Prepares bank and account reconciliations, reports, journal entries, and makes recommendations for management. Solves unusual problems jointly with manager and has work reviewed for application of sound judgment. May direct efforts of other accounting staff. Will interact independently with other members of the facility concerning financial issues. Emphasis is on monthly and yearly financial reports.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Other roles and responsibilities for this position, will include but not be limited to:
- Assists in maintaining financial records and ensuring that financial transactions are properly recorded.
- Maintain general ledger in order to complete and submit accurate financial data during month-end processes according to predetermined deadlines.
- Ensures the accuracy of entries to ledger accounts and reconciles subsidiary ledger accounts to the general ledger.
- Compiles financial data to aid more senior accountants in the preparation of balance sheets, statement of operations and other financial reports.
- Assists in analyzing current costs, revenues, financial commitments, and obligations incurred to predict future revenues and expenses.
- Assist in monthly closings and preparation of monthly financial statements
- Reconcile and maintain bank, investment and balance sheet accounts
- Prepare analysis of accounts as requested
- Assist with preparation and coordination of the audit process
- Assist with implementing and maintaining internal financial controls and procedures
- Provide support for testing and implementing systems and/or process changes to support increased efficiencies.
- Assist in developing and implementing policies, and controls.
- Interacts with co-workers, visitors, and other staff consistent with the values of Jefferson.
EDUCATIONAL/TRAINING REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor Degree in Accounting or Finance
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, AND REGISTRATION:
CPA or MBA preferred
