About the job
A problem isn’t truly solved until it’s solved for all. That’s why Googlers build products that help create opportunities for everyone, whether down the street or across the globe. As a Program Manager at Google, you’ll lead complex, multi-disciplinary projects from start to finish — working with stakeholders to plan requirements, manage project schedules, identify risks, and communicate clearly with cross-functional partners across the company. Your projects will often span offices, time zones, and hemispheres. It's your job to coordinate the players and keep them up to date on progress and deadlines.
The Data Center Planning organization will identify the cost-efficient set of data centers to meet a 5-year forecast demand signal and for identifying and planning the Product Areas (PAs) who will occupy them. This work relies on a Supply-Demand Matching (SDM) process, coordinated by both sophisticated solver engines and extensive team knowledge, defining the direction of a global, hyperscale data center portfolio. Teams across Google rely on DCP to guide timing and priorities of land acquisition, seed funding (including campus plan activities), offsite utility infrastructure, long-lead equipment, construction investments.
Responsibilities
- Model and set regional long-term demand plans and guiding strategic infrastructure investment to optimize the continuity of supply.
- Work closely with region sales leads, product, demand planning, finance, networking, and software development teams to deliver high quality and robust capacity planning processes, with favorable business outcomes.
- Instrument a blend of analysis, program design, implementation and operations management skills to improve our processes and data in order to define the long term build forecast.
- Partner with internal stakeholders in order to identify technological and business constraints to avoid scheduling conflicts in the presence of multiple orders engaging for limited resources over the planning horizon.
- Be able to analyze large data sets quickly to identify complex patterns and relationships resulting in operational solutions to real business problems.
