We are a leading producer of medium and large-caliber tactical and training ammunition for U.S. and allied militaries. Northrop Grumman is at the forefront of developing new, advanced ammunition types that include armor penetration, airbursting, proximity-fuzed and guided munitions to enhance lethality and overmatch on the battlefield.
Position Overview
- Designs major components or major portions of a functional system to develop or improve products and facilitate manufacturing operations.
- Develops basic data and makes preliminary layouts, sketches, and notes necessary to present design proposal.
- Utilizes computer-aided design equipment and/or graphic tools such as, CAD, CAM or CATIA for more than 30 years with clear demonstration of mastering the tools and its application to the business.
- Investigates pertinent design factors such as ease of manufacture, availability of materials and equipment, interchangeability, replace ability, strength-weight efficiency, and contractual specification requirements and cost.
- Coordinates with other organizations affected by design development.
- Makes layouts of complex assemblies and details parts of devices, mechanisms, and structures.
- Checks completed layouts and drawings for clarity, completeness, conformity to standards, procedures, specifications, and accuracy of calculations and dimensioning.
- Identifies design errors, omissions, and other deficiencies, and recommends revisions and/or improvements in design layout to responsible engineers or designers.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering, or closely related STEM discipline
- Must have 5 years of experience of experience as Electrical Engineer, Design Engineer, or closely rated field
- Experience with Printed Wiring Board (PWB) layout
- Experience using Printed Circuit Board (PCB) design suites such as Cadence, Altium and Mentor Graphics VX
- Strong organization, planning and time-management skills
- Must be a US Citizen.
- Ability to obtain a DoD Secret Clearance
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering Technology with focus on ECAD and Drafting
- Extensive experience using Mentor Graphics Xpedition VX2.x, xDM and xDM library client.
- Experience in complex designs including the utilization of HDI technology
- Experience using Mentor Fablink or Blue Print for drawing creation
- Working knowledge of military design standards and GD&T techniques
- Current understanding of IPC industry standards
- Experience creating component cells, pads, and working within datasheets for part creation
- Experience working in EDM Library Cockpit
- Experience reviewing relevant Peer documentation including PWB and CCA drawing
