Description
The YMCA of Broome County is seeking a dynamic and organized Assistant Branch Executive / Assistant HR Director to support daily operations, supervise staff, and assist in managing human resources functions across multiple departments. This role is ideal for a motivated leader who thrives in a team environment and is passionate about advancing the YMCA’s mission of youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility.
- Assist the Branch Executive with the daily management and supervision of all branch operations
- Provide leadership, guidance, and support to department heads, including Aquatics, Wellness, Membership and Facilities
- Oversee staffing schedules, monitor program performance, and ensure high standards of member service and safety
- Coordinate with maintenance and custodial teams to maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming facility
- Support fiscal management by monitoring budgets, controlling expenses, and contributing to revenue growth
- Act as Acting Branch Manager in the absence of the Branch Executive
- Lead and participate in community events, fundraising, and outreach initiatives
Human Resources Support
- Assist in recruitment, interviewing, hiring, and onboarding of new employees
- Maintain and update staff records, certifications, and compliance documentation
- Support employee training, performance evaluations, and staff development initiatives
- Help manage employee relations by promoting a positive, inclusive, and team-oriented workplace culture
- Ensure staff adherence to YMCA policies, procedures, and code of conduct
- Serve as a resource for staff questions regarding payroll, benefits, and general HR procedures

Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Recreation, Human Resources, or a related field preferred
- Minimum of 3 years of supervisory or management experience; YMCA or nonprofit experience strongly preferred
- Basic HR experience or training (recruitment, onboarding, or employee management) required
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Strong organizational and time-management abilities
