Summary
The Logistics and Trade Compliance Manager is responsible for developing, leading, and maintaining a robust trade compliance program for the company and overseeing global logistics operations. This role ensures full compliance with import/export laws, regulations, and applicable government programs, while supporting operational business units.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
Trade Compliance:
• Develop and manage trade compliance programs, policies, and automated systems.
• Ensure compliance with U.S. and international regulations (EAR, ITAR, OFAC, CBP, BIS, DDTC, USMCA).
• Conduct audits, risk assessments, and investigations to mitigate compliance risks.
• Oversee import/export documentation and regulatory filings.
• Manage Denied Parties Screening and product classification, including Harmonized Tariff codes and Rules of Origin.
• Maintain centralized import/export databases and supporting documentation.
• Interpret customs regulations and advise internal teams and leadership on compliance matters.
• Maximize benefits under trade agreements and special duty programs.
• Train global staff on compliance requirements and serve as the primary point of contact for trade-related inquiries.
Logistics:
• Develop and implement global logistics strategies to improve efficiency and reduce costs.
• Oversee transportation and distribution for commercial operations, ensuring compliance with trade laws and safety standards.
• Coordinate with suppliers, manufacturers, TMS partners, freight forwarders, and customs brokers.
• Optimize shipping routes and negotiate carrier contracts with TMS partner support.
• Monitor logistics performance metrics, resolve issues, and implement corrective actions.
• Approve logistics invoices and drive continuous improvement through cross-functional collaboration.
• Maintain strong relationships with logistics partners and internal stakeholders (legal, procurement, contracts, IT).
Skills & Knowledge
• In-depth knowledge of global trade regulations, customs procedures, and compliance frameworks.
• Experience with USMCA, duty programs, and international logistics operations.
• Strong analytical, communication, and negotiation skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office and logistics/compliance systems.
• Strategic thinker with leadership experience and a collaborative mindset.
Education & Experience
• Bachelor’s degree required.
• Licensed Customs Broker, Certified Trade Compliance Specialist, and/or Certified Customs Specialist preferred.
• 7+ years of import/export compliance experience, including customs regulations and international trade.
• EAR and ITAR experience required.
• Experience leveraging technology to drive process improvements.
