The IT Systems Engineer is responsible for the design, implementation, and support of networking and security technologies such as firewalls, switches, Wi-Fi, VPNs, IoT networks, WAF, NAC, SDWAN, and similar technologies.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Deploy, maintain, administer, and support networks, servers, security, and cloud infrastructure, including installation of operating systems, and applications on those systems.
- Migrate legacy systems to modern platforms and infrastructure, both on prem and cloud.
- Implement, configure, and support Cisco, Linux, NetApp, and Microsoft technologies.
- Ensure all applications, devices, and hardware within the scope of responsibility for this position are maintained and patched to current levels.
- Support and maintain Windows servers, including installation of operating systems, and applications on those systems.
- Administer and maintain Active Directory, group policies, and security policies.
- Administer Desktop Authority server governing user profiles, and configuration.
- Administer and support security, encryption, and web filtering applications.
- Administer backups of Windows servers.
- Maintain backups of Microsoft desktops and laptops.
- Support and diagnose problems with principle applications used by the Company.
- Diagnose, research and resolve XenApp farm technical issues.
- Configure and support Exchange environment.
- Configure and support SharePoint environment.
- Configure and support System Center environment.
- Evaluate and make recommendations for the procurement and implementation all applications, devices, and hardware within the scope of responsibility for this position.
- Assist in the implementation of projects for the Company.
- Actively identify and explore new tools to increase Company productivity and efficiency.
- Identify cost saving opportunities for presentation to management and implement on approval.
- Document all applications, devices, and hardware within the scope of responsibility for this position as needed.
- Concentration, focus and accuracy with documentation while performing office duties and responsibilities.
- Verbal and written communication with internal and external customers.
- Occasional travel to other company locations.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in STEM or equivalent experience.
- 7 years’ experience administering Network technologies.
- 2 years’ experience managing and delivering complex network projects.
- Recent industry certification (e.g. Cisco, CompTIA, Fortinet, ISC2, ISACA, etc.)
- Experience in managing and configuring Fortinet and Cisco technologies.
- Experience developing IT documentation including policies, procedures, standards, guidelines, best practices, and technical position papers.
- Interest and aptitude in learning new technologies.
Preferred:
- Demonstrated professional technology project experience.
- Provide advanced technical support and resolve complicated problems in Unix/Linux systems.
- Support storage and backup technologies.
- Experience supporting SCADA environments.
