The HVAC Technician is responsible for the operation, maintenance, and repair of all HVAC systems on all Fresno Pacific University campuses. The HVAC Technician will locate and diagnose maintenance problems on equipment and performance emergency repairs.
Position Duties
- Schedule routine preventative maintenance, repairs, and service of HVAC systems.
- Maintain HVAC equipment in collaboration with the Assistant Director of Facilities.
- Update and maintain records for all equipment inspections, filter changes, and equipment placement.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot electrical and mechanical faults.
- Ensure compliance with safety and appliance standards.
- Install electrical components and wiring.
- Inspect and test HVAC systems and components.
- Recommend maintenance to improve system performance.
- Keep records of work performed.
- Perform soldering as needed.
- Lubricate and oil equipment according to manufacturer specifications and industry standards.

Minimum Qualifications
Qualifications:
- 5 years of experience in HVAC service and repair
- Capable of reading blueprints and HVAC equipment specifications
- Possess excellent interpersonal communication skills in person and by phone
- Possess the ability to professionally process feedback
- Possess a valid California Drivers’ License
Preferred:
- Understanding of Johnson controls Metasys system
- Certification and/or license in HVAC
- Refrigeration certifications
- Certificate to recycle and charge refrigerants
Environmental Conditions:
- Both indoor and outdoor work environments, both subject to varying weather conditions.
- Frequent computer use at a workstation, up to eight hours per day.
- Frequently work at a fast pace with unscheduled interruptions.
- This position is based on the main campus of Fresno Pacific University but may be required to drive personal or University vehicles to appointments on all University campuses and University residential areas.
- Public contact position requiring professional apparel, personal hygiene, and grooming.
Physical Demands:
- Repetitive and physically demanding; frequent bending, lifting, sitting, standing, walking, climbing, kneeling, reaching, and working at heights and/or confined spaces.
- Walking, sitting, and standing for extended periods.
- Moderate-to-heavy lifting (up to 75 pounds).
- This position typically functions both indoors in an office environment with light to moderate noise associated with business office equipment and outdoors with varying weather conditions. The position may involve travel for meetings and events.
- Perform the following with or without reasonable accommodation: stand, sit, kneel, stoop, reach, lift, grasp, see for reading and data analysis on a computer screen.
- Dexterity to provide proficient use and operation of tools and equipment.

Other Qualifications
$54,080 to $61,630 is the annual starting salary for this role and reflects what Fresno Pacific University reasonably expects to pay for this position. Actual compensation may vary based on qualifications, experience, and internal equity. In addition to compensation, FPU offers a competitive benefits package.
