Responsible for the proper execution of activities related to the development of cell lines for the generation of stable, monoclonal and high-expression cell lines that produce recombinant monoclonal antibodies, fusion proteins, hormones, biosimilar molecules of non-antibody proteins, etc.
Provide technical leadership for analysts involved in cell line development. Contribute to extensive interaction with cross-functional teams; Upstream process development, downstream process development, and analytical development.
Responsibilities:- Responsible for organizing the daily laboratory activities, providing support for the proper execution of the different projects.
- Execution of cell line development activities such as:
- Aseptic management of mammalian cell lines, including routine thawing, maintenance, and subculture of mammalian cells.
- Management of mammalian cell cultures in different stages: static and agitated.
- Preparation of culture media, feed, and cell culture solutions.
- Creation of cell phone banks.
- Generation of stable and transient transfections.
- Cell clone isolation and high-productivity clone selection.
- Monoclonality data generation with the help of a cellular imager.
- Execution of the production process (fed-batch) in stirring flask and/or micro bioreactor system.
- Cell line stability studies
- Media panel and feed screening for title enhancement in clones.
- Data collection, analysis, and creation of appropriate statistical presentations, including graphs and tables.
- Maintain the laboratory in correct conditions following GLP standards.
- Preparation, maintenance and drafting of Operating Procedures of Standards, preparation of Cell Line Development report, etc.
- Continuous improvement: You will support improvements throughout the cell line development process.
- Education: Degree in the relevant major of Biology/Biotechnology
- Languages: Fluent Spanish, working knowledge in English (mandatory English level B2, part of the interview will be conducted in English), knowledge of other languages will be an asset.
- Experience (years/area): +1 year of relevant experience in mammalian cell line culture activities. Experience in cell line development and/or having been working with pharmaceutical biologics and biotech environments is a plus.
- Specific knowledge:
- Experience in cell line development activities, such as cell line subculture and maintenance, cell banks, production process (fed-batch), transfection, generation of cell pools with stable transfection, cell line stability studies. Knowledge of molecular biology techniques is a plus.
- The work with the isolation and analysis of data from cell clones will be positively valued.
- Knowledge of regulatory guidelines for cell line development.
- Knowledge about mammalian cell line metabolism, as well as the structure, function of monoclonal antibodies. Specific understanding of post-translational modifications.
- Travel: Not mandatory.

- Ability to learn quickly in terms of laboratory techniques for cell line development.
- Ability to read and carefully follow instructions in English.
- Communication skills with laboratory staff, superiors, and with staff from other laboratories.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and organizational skills.
- Availability for work on weekends and holidays (subject to process requirements).
- Availability to work in morning and afternoon shifts (under process requirement).
