Position Title: 10-Month Secretary

Reports To: Building Principals
Location: Monroe Middle School

Position Purpose:
Monroe Middle School is seeking a highly skilled and motivated individual with strong secretarial, organizational, and interpersonal abilities. The ideal candidate will be proficient in computer applications and able to work independently with minimal supervision. Candidates must be prepared to complete a computer proficiency assessment as part of the selection process.

Compensation:
$18.11 per hour in accordance with the Clerical Master Agreement

Essential Functions

Technical Skills:

• Perform intermediate to advanced tasks in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel) — proficiency testing required.
• Complete intermediate to advanced tasks in Google Workspace (Sheets, Slides, Docs).
• Execute desktop publishing assignments accurately and creatively.
• Operate standard office equipment (e.g., copiers, scanners, label makers).
• Perform basic bookkeeping and accounting tasks as needed.
• Maintain accurate records and inventories.

Organizational Skills:

• Demonstrate exceptional organizational ability and attention to detail
• Exhibit self-motivation and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment with frequent interruptions

Interpersonal and Communication Skills:

• Maintain strict confidentiality of sensitive information and records
• Communicate effectively and professionally with students, parents, staff, and community members
• Respond to phone and in-person inquiries courteously and accurately
• Handle office situations and emergencies with composure and tact

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; Associate’s degree or higher preferred
• Advanced computer skills and demonstrated proficiency with office software
• Minimum of three (3) years of successful experience as a secretary or office clerk
• Proven ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with staff, students, and the public
• Strong secretarial skills, including proficient typing, excellent telephone etiquette, and strong grammar, writing, and verbal communication abilities
• Demonstrated ability to compose professional correspondence and make sound, independent decisions
