We are seeking a Staff Accountant who will be responsible for performing a variety of accounting tasks, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timeliness in financial transaction processing, reporting, reconciling, and auditing.
This role requires you to report to our office in La Mesa, California, on a daily basis.
Applicants with Staff Accountant experience will be considered for an interview.
- 2+ years (minimum) experience in Finance and/or Full-Cycle Accounting is required.
- Best Accounting processing identification knowledge is preferred.
- This role requires strong computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel) and accounting software.
Compensation:
- Starting range of pay: $68k - 74k per year, commensurate with experience and background. Exceptional Benefits!
Work schedule:
- Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00 am - 5:00 pm PST
Essential Functions:
- Ensure compliance with accounting standards and internal controls.
- Collaborate with team members to improve accounting processes and systems.
- Perform bank and account reconciliations to identify and resolve discrepancies.
- Create invoices (via import and manual) for all incoming contracts received.
- Payment application to invoices.
- Audits DMS sales and invoice transactions.
- Deposits check payments to the bank.
- Support the month-end and year-end close processes.
- Adds Customers and Item Codes into the accounting system as needed.
- Runs Monthly Statements once contracts are balanced.
- Prints all Monthly Statements, sorts, and reviews.
- Monitor and analyze data to identify trends and variances.
- Email out monthly statements to Agents.
- Mails out monthly statements to Dealers.
- Assists with Data Entry with reports when time allows/as needed.
- Strives to enforce and live Portfolio’s Philosophy each and every day.
- Takes ownership of changes and is personally responsible for managing change in an upbeat, positive manner.
- Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning activities.
- Ad hoc analysis projects.
- Other job duties as assigned.
Requirements
Education and Qualification Requirements:
- Strong computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office and Accounting Software.
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- 2+ years of experience in finance or accounting.
Preferred Requirements:
- Some college or bachelor's degree preferred.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Well-developed organizational skills and the ability to successfully manage multiple issues and demands.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Previous accounts receivable or accounts payable experience.
Work Environment and Physical Requirements:
- Vision acuity required to include close vision, color vision, distant vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
- Ability to grasp objects such as a telephone or computer mouse, finger dexterity to use a keyboard, calculator, and standard office equipment
- Ability to walk, stand, reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, and lift up to 25 pounds.
- Ability to frequently sit for long periods of time.
- Ability to hear and talk, both in person and by phone.
