As a Barback/Food Runner, your responsibilities include clearing tables, resetting them for the next guests, and ensuring a tidy dining environment. Barback/Food Runner may also assist with refilling drinks, delivering food, stocking the bar, prepping garnishes, and providing excellent guest service. Attention to detail, teamwork, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment are essential for success in this role.
Essential Functions
- Assist team with food and beverage delivery, table presetting, and clearing to ensure efficient, timely service and an exceptional guest dining experience.
- Uphold cleanliness, sanitation, and organization of dining and service areas throughout the shift.
- Assist Bartenders with keeping a well-stocked and tidy bar.
- Complete opening, closing, and side work; set up food carts, stations, and ensure all equipment and supplies are ready and in good condition.
- Expo build tickets on the kitchen line and deliver orders accurately to guests.
- Monitor guests’ dining experiences, address requests promptly, and be knowledgeable about menu items and common dietary restrictions.
- Communicate effectively with team members and support staff to deliver seamless service.
- Follow all safety, sanitation, and operational standards as outlined in company policies and procedures.
- Maintain knowledge of and comply with departmental policies, service procedures, 4 Keys service standards, and safety and security procedures.
- Perform all additional duties as assigned by management.
Skills and Abilities
- Understand and align with the mission, vision, and goals of the hotel.
- Prioritize tasks, work efficiently with limited supervision, and manage multiple tasks with attention to detail, speed, and accuracy.
- Communicate effectively in the primary workplace language, demonstrating excellent communication, follow-up, and organizational skills.
- Adhere to all safety protocols, including proper use of PPE, equipment handling, and compliance with required licenses or certifications.
- Ability to comprehend and follow recipes.
- Work well under pressure and in challenging conditions, using good judgment to resolve problems, follow directions, and collaborate effectively as part of a team.
- Maintain a current permit or food safety certification as required by the local government.
Physical Requirements
The minimum physical requirements for this position include but are not limited to:
- Must be able to lift and/or carry up to 50 pounds frequently
- Ability to stand for extended periods of time
- Ability to hear, understand and communicate orally and in writing to communicate with staff, vendors, and guests in-person and phone conversation
- Ability to bend and twist, push, and pull, stoop, and kneel
