Chewonki is seeking a highly organized and mission-driven Outdoor Logistics & Group Coordinator to support the operational backbone of our educational programs and rental offerings. This year-round position plays a crucial role in ensuring smooth delivery of Chewonki’s expeditions, field experiences, and campus-based group stays by managing systems, resources, and communications with precision and professionalism.
Location: Wiscasset, Maine
Reports to: Director of the Center for Environmental Education
Schedule: Full Time, Year- round, Residential
Salary: $45,300.32/Annually

Key Responsibilities
Logistics & Resource Management
Oversee operations at Chewonki’s Packout facility, including gear maintenance, equipment inventories, and food systems.
Coordinate outfitting and rationing for overnight trips, expeditions, solos, and outdoor skills weekends across multiple program areas.
Train and support seasonal staff in logistical protocols, food safety, and packing systems.
Liaise with licensing and regulatory agencies to maintain compliance with Maine Department of Health and Human Services, ACA, and Department of Agriculture standards.
Serve as primary point of contact for program leaders to ensure logistical readiness for field-based activities.
Rental Group Coordination (January–May, August–December)
Act as the site representative for external rental groups using Chewonki’s campus.
Greet groups at arrival and departure, provide access to facilities, and uphold expectations outlined in rental agreements.
Serve as overnight on-call support for group needs and campus adherence to policies.
Collaborate with internal facilities, kitchen, and program departments to ensure operational excellence.
Program & Community Support
Assist in training seasonal staff in areas such as food handling, equipment usage, and packing systems.
Support program delivery, including occasional facilitation of interpretive or challenge-based activities based on expertise.
Contribute to risk management practices, campus duties, and community meals.
Provide rotational support to the Wildlife Center for animal care tasks as needed.

Qualifications
21+ years of age
Wilderness First Responder certification (required)
Must pass Criminal Background Check including Motor Vehicle Record and Driver’s License approved by Chewonki’s insurance carrier.
Experience in logistics, outdoor operations, equipment or food systems coordination, or related fields
Strong communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills
Experience in outdoor education, environmental programs, or guest group support preferred
ServeSafe Manager, Maine Guide, and/or ACA Instructor certification preferred or willingness to obtain
Physical Requirements
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
Comfortable working in a variety of weather conditions and outdoor environments
