Main Tasks

  • Coordinates the implementation, maintenance and continuous improvement of the local HSE management system and the regional’s Written Safety Program
  • Conducts new employee’s safety orientation training and annual refresher trainings for current employees
  • Works with HR to set up a new employee on-boarding process for safety
  • Ensures Supervisors complete accident reports as necessary
  • Gathers evidence of accident/incident, update summary log and Teams Safety and Health folder. Works with HR to ensure workers comp are submitted timely
  • Investigates accidents that occur onsite and identifies possible cause of the accident
  • Maintains and updates the OSHA 300 Log, SQDC board and creates safety alerts
  • Coordinates monthly Safety Committee meetings, maintain agenda, meeting minutes and closure of action items
  • Conducts routine Safety Inspections of the site following set schedule
  • Coordinates annual emergency evacuation drills, generates report and coordinates with other departments for closure of action items
  • Completes monthly and annual safety related data and information to regional safety and external regulatory agency, as required
  • Coordinates with regional safety for the generation and reviews of onsite safety policies and procedures
  • Assists supervisors and regional safety in developing safety rules, safe job procedures, checklists, etc
  • Observe employee behaviours to ensure that all the employees are adhere to PPE requirements
  • Oversees workplace repairs, installations and any other work that could harm employees' safety
  • Attends regular onsite safety coordinator trainings and meetings for continuous improvement of the role
  • Supports the Plant Manager in setting targets, defining actions, monitoring target achievement and reviewing HSE conformity
  • Maintains documentation of the company's safety procedures, accidents and related events
  • Acts as a liaison between management and external safety agencies, such as fire and insurance personnel.
  • In case of major HSE related deviations escalate to Plant Manager and regional HSE Director
  • Assists regional in HSE risk assessment of work equipment, installations, materials and processes prior to implementation and during operation.
  • Seeks guidance and assistance from regional safety if needed
  • Additional duties as assigned

Your Profile

  • High School Diploma/ GED
  • Ability to work with all hierarchical levels in a cooperative, target-oriented and appropriate way as well as to communicate HSE-related subjects with both enthusiasm and conviction
  • 1-2 years HSE experience in a manufacturing environment preferred
  • Fluent in written and oral English communication; Spanish language is a plus
  • Strong Microsoft Office tools experience
  • Understanding of OSHA 30, OSHA 10 and OSHA 300 logs preferred
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and accuracy regarding documentation, presentations and data
  • Excellent verbal, written and listening communication skills; strong empathy and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently, take initiative and multitask
  • Must be able to read, understand and comply with written and verbal instructions, company processes and procedures and safety policies
  • Must be able to lift a minimum of 50lbs
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States

Work Environment
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical equipment such as forklifts and other machinery. The noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud. Ability to work in temperature conditions between 45 to 95 degrees Fahrenheit; may occasionally exceed 95 degrees Fahrenheit.

 

Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; bend; stoop; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach/lift with hands and arms up to 50 pounds.
