JOB SUMMARY

This position is for a Staff Design Engineer. The main responsibility of the Staff Design Engineer is to design, simulate, test, and verify new MMIC designs.

This role will require access to access information controlled under the Export Administration Regulations (EAR, 15 CFR §§ 730-780),and likely the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR, 22 CFR §§ 120-130), and so applicants for this position must be one of a U.S. citizen, U.S. permanent resident, or other Protected Individual (as defined under 8 USC § 1324b(a)(3)).

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Design new state-of-the-art microwave monolithic integrated circuit (MMIC) circuits
  • Layout new MMICs, perform design rule checks, and perform layout vs. schematic checks
  • Interact with foundries to validate PDK models and tapeout new wafers
  • Ability and willingness to characterize products hands on in the lab when required to meet project schedules
  • Assist with generation of preliminary datasheets
  • Support applications engineering, technical sales, and product line management when required
  • Support of products through the entire product development and production release cycle
  • Definition of product specifications and development of test plans
  • Prepare for design review meetings

REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelors or MS or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Physics, RF Engineering or related field
  • 3-5 years of hands on GaAs MMIC amplifier design experience

TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES

  • Proven ability to design and support the production release of MMIC products
  • Demonstrated design successes in one or more of the following topologies: Travelling wave amplifiers, low noise amplifiers, gain blocks, variable gain amplifiers, power amplifiers, power detectors. 
  • Experience with common high frequency packaging techniques
  • High level of proficiency in Microwave Office and HFSS preferred
