Key Responsibilities
- Provide leadership and direction to the team to deliver and execute shipping and receiving outcomes and meet safety, quality, production, financial and customer goals as defined by the client requirements and business objectives.
- Supervise and manage the activities of shipping and receiving staff, including scheduling, training, and performance evaluations.
- Inspect product to ensure adherence to customer specifications, ensure orders are checked for content and labeling, note any discrepancies, and ensure that all R&M and Ad-hoc orders are picked and processed for the day.
- Oversee the receipt, inspection, and documentation of incoming shipments to ensure accuracy and quality.
- Coordinate and track outbound shipments, ensuring timely dispatch and adherence to customer requirements.
- Work with freight carriers to obtain quotes for multiple distribution channels and capture proof of delivery (POD) reporting.
- Maintain accurate inventory records and conduct regular physical inventory checks.
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations and company policies within the shipping and receiving area.
- Collaborate with other departments to address and resolve any shipping or receiving issues.
- Implement and improve standard operating procedures to enhance efficiency and productivity.
- Monitor and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) related to shipping and receiving operations.
- Manage relationships with carriers and vendors to negotiate rates and ensure reliable service.
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Education in logistics, supply chain management, or related field
- Forklift Certified
- 1+ years of experience in warehouse processes, shipping, and receiving.
- 1+ years’ experience supervising and/or developing others.
- Experience working with freight carriers to obtain quotes for multiple distribution channels and to capture proof of delivery (POD) reporting.
- Freight management experience
- Strong knowledge of shipping and receiving processes, inventory management, and warehouse operations.
- Excellent leadership and team management skills.
- Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities.
- Proficient in using warehouse management systems (WMS) and other relevant software.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Ability to work in a demanding environment and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Microsoft Office and shipping terminals
- Knowledge of order fulfillment
- Ability to lift 50 pounds.
