Nexus Children’s Hospital – Shenandoah is a 50-bed specialty inpatient hospital in north Houston providing advanced care for children and adults with complex medical and behavioral health needs.
Our campus includes:
16-bed ICU/Medical-Surgical Unit providing high-acuity medical care and recovery support.
34-bed Medical-Behavioral Unit serving patients with co-occurring medical and psychiatric conditions.
We specialize in treating brain and spinal cord injuries, chronic illnesses, neurobehavioral disorders, and adolescents with complex co-occurring diagnoses.

Key Responsibilities
Service Leadership
Consistently support and communicate the Mission, Vision, and Values of Nexus Health Systems.
Foster a culture of service excellence, accountability, and collaboration among clinical teams.
Uphold compliance with all federal and state laws, regulations, and corporate policies.
Represent the hospital in community and partnership initiatives to promote health equity and access.
Clinical Excellence
Integrate evidence-based practices into inpatient care delivery models and clinical protocols.
Oversee credentialing, privileging, and performance evaluation of clinical staff.
Champion innovation through interdisciplinary collaboration and technology adoption.
Standardize clinical practices across inpatient departments to ensure consistency and efficiency.
Lead development of new service lines and expansion initiatives aligned with community needs.
Patient Experience and Advocacy
Promote patient-centered care and shared decision-making across all inpatient settings.
Implement systems for monitoring patient satisfaction and feedback.
Ensure culturally competent, respectful care that honors patient and family values.
Quality Assurance and Compliance
Oversee the hospital’s quality improvement and patient safety programs.
Ensure compliance with CMS, DNV, Joint Commission, CARF, RTC, and RCCL standards.
Lead accreditation readiness and continuous quality monitoring initiatives.
Analyze clinical performance data to identify trends and drive performance improvement.
Professional Development
Promote a culture of continuous learning and professional growth for all clinical staff.
Support continuing education, certification, and leadership development programs.
Mentor emerging nurse and clinical leaders to strengthen the leadership pipeline.
Finance and Resource Stewardship
Collaborate with the CEO to develop and manage clinical budgets.
Evaluate cost-effectiveness of programs and drive initiatives to optimize productivity.
Support quality-based reimbursement and value-based care strategies.
Qualifications
MSN, MBA, or related master’s degree (Doctorate preferred).
Active Texas RN license and BLS certification required.
5+ years of progressive clinical leadership and 3+ years of direct clinical experience.
Expertise in quality improvement, clinical operations, and interdisciplinary collaboration.
