Job Summary
The Business Development Coordinator (BDC) coordinates with the BD Director, Business Operations Dept., Engineering Directors, and Project Managers and Administrators to produce high-quality proposals on time and within budget constraints. The BDC attains an expert-level understanding of our existing commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS) tools and develops new approaches to document past performance in Salas O’Brien’s federal BD database.
General Duties:
Work tasks vary and require flexibility and versatility to support engineering consulting goals.
- Writes technical and proposal documents compliant with request for proposal (RFP) instructions. Interviews engineering staff to understand performance on projects to effectively document work performed in writing.
- Understands the needs of strategic and tactical business development efforts and how to prioritize multiple assignments to meet client-driven deadlines effectively.
- Maintains a schedule and drives proposal development teams consisting of in-house personnel and external resources to complete tasks per internal milestones.
- Performs common bid and proposal tasks:
- Creates/updates resumes for engineers to review.
- Creates, sends, and follows up with customers to complete past performance questionnaires (PPQ).
- Develops and submits requested proposal inputs for prime contractor teammates.
- Requests and evaluates proposal inputs from subcontractors on our prime bids.
- Reviews proposal content for compliance with RFP instructions and edits content for proper grammar and spelling per corporate writing style guidance.
- Applies artificial intelligence per the Salas O’Brien Acceptable Use Policy while safeguarding proprietary information.

Qualifications:
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree.
- Minimum of five years’ experience performing technical or proposal writing.
- Based in Central Florida.
- Experience copy editing and proofreading others’ work.
- Experience developing and complying with corporate style guides.
Preferred:
- Experience with Adobe Creative Cloud applications, particularly InDesign.
- Experience with process documentation.
- Experience providing writing services for multiple companies.
Additional Eligibility Qualifications
- Valid, state-issued driver’s license
- Must be a US Citizen.
Work Environment
Most work is performed in an office environment. Some work includes site visits of government installations requiring background checks and clearances.
Travel
Some travel to client sites and industry events in Florida may be required on infrequent occasions.

The expected base salary range for this role is $45-50K USD per year. Actual compensation will be determined based on a number of factors including skills, experience, qualifications, and location.
