SUMMARY
The Project Engineer 5 supports and leads engineering efforts for aircraft interior modification, lavatory, and galley programs. This role serves as the primary engineering focal point for internal and external stakeholders after contract award. The Project Engineer ensures delivery of all engineering work products on time, within scope, and in compliance with company and regulatory standards. Responsibilities include leading multidisciplinary teams, coordinating design and certification activities, maintaining project schedules, and ensuring technical accuracy and integration across engineering groups.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Serve as the primary engineering contact for aircraft interior modification, lavatory, and galley projects.
- Lead project planning and execution, including Tier 2 and Tier 3 schedule management.
- Maintain and manage up-to-date engineering work scopes, deliverables, and configuration data.
- Direct and coordinate multidisciplinary engineering teams including Mechanical, Electrical, Certification, Stress, Flammability, Technical Publications, Testing, and Manufacturing Engineering.
- Ensure design packages comply with FAA/EASA regulatory certification requirements.
- Prepare and review engineering change proposals (CIPs) and identify out-of-scope work.
- Develop and manage complete aircraft modification engineering packages in accordance with design standards, budget, and schedule.
- Forecast engineering workload and collaborate with functional managers to allocate resources effectively.
- Identify technical risks, schedule impacts, and develop mitigation plans.
- Support or lead ITCM, PDR, CDR, and other technical meetings with customers and suppliers.
- Ensure timely preparation and submittal of substantiation documents and data uploads to Airbus, Boeing, or airline portals.
- Review and approve EAMR / CFE / BFE listings, ensuring configuration and parts traceability.
- Identify long-lead items and coordinate with procurement for alternate solutions.
- Troubleshoot engineering and integration challenges and drive resolution across functions.
- Support certification and engineering testing, including coordination of facilities and test logistics.
- Prepare and present project status reports, KPIs, and metrics to leadership.
- Maintain compliance with company standards, processes, and customer requirements.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or Aerospace Engineering.
- Experience: Minimum 8 years of direct engineering experience supporting commercial aircraft interior modification, lavatory, and galley programs.
- Strong background in aircraft survey, installation design, IFE integration, and structural modification.
- Proven ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and manage engineering deliverables in an STC or OEM modification environment.
- Working knowledge of FAA and EASA certification processes, aircraft cabin systems, and integration methods.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, project scheduling tools, and CAD/PLM systems.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment.
- Ability to travel domestically and internationally to support program and customer needs.

- Standard office and aircraft modification hangar environment.
