Risk Management is an independent function within CommBank which is accountable for providing Line 2 oversight, approval, and acceptance of decisions to ensure CommBank remains within its risk appetite. The Technology and Operations Risk and Compliance team is responsible for providing specialist Operational Risk and Compliance (OR&C) advice, assurance and acceptance/approval of decisions made across the Technology, Chief Operations Office, and Supplier Support Units. This role will be under the Technology Compliance team and focus specifically on the Compliance Risk and regulatory obligations across CommBank’s Technology teams.

Do work that matters:

As the Manager, Technology Compliance, you will play a key role in CommBank’s journey to NPS +30 and delivering better customer outcomes through leading risk management. You will provide effective and practical advice and insights on compliance risk, regulatory obligations and Operational Risk Management Framework (ORMF) and Compliance Management Framework (CMF), efficient risk governance and timely and fact-based reporting and governance. 

Key responsibilities for this role include:

Technical:

  • Support the technology compliance processes with a focus on technology incident management and compliance assessment including reporting to APRA, ASIC, Banking Code Compliance Committee (BCCC) and other relevant regulators and industry bodies. This will involve working with Technology, Line 1 Risk and other Compliance teams in Australia and internationally to support the incident crisis management and response, and investigation and assessment of technology related incidents to ensure any impacts to CommBank are managed, mitigated and rectified within the risk appetite.
  • Work as part of a team of highly experienced and professional SMEs to provide independent, pragmatic and value added OR&C advice for emerging technology areas including AI adoption, Fraud and Scam framework enhancement, cloud service and other emerging risks associated with technology services provided by CommBank.
  • Support horizon scanning, regulatory consultations, regulatory change implementation and other compliance matters as required under CBA’s internal risk frameworks, policies, and governance.
  • Support CPS 230 International Materiality Assessment
  • Act as a Technology Compliance SME for stakeholder engagements and provide constructive review and challenge across all levels.
  • Support the appropriate identification, escalation and reporting of all related Technology compliance matters to the relevant stakeholders, including the relevant Risk Governance Forums, your Executive Managers/General Managers and to the Technology and Operations Chief Risk Officer.
  • Operating in an agile and collaborative way of working.

 Leadership:

  • Work as part of a cross-skilled and curious team that can support a range of areas both analytically and commercially, speaking up and contributing to appropriate Line 2 oversight and challenge.
  • Provide thought leadership for Line 2 risk management and assurance activities, analytics, and reporting. Contribute to a culture of learning and collaboration.
  • Role model behaviours that are consistent with CommBank’s values expectations and leadership principles. Provide a safe workplace for all colleagues, customers and stakeholders.
  • Develop and maintain partnerships with stakeholders to become a trusted advisor through using commercial acumen, practical recommendations and assisting the business to prioritise focus on key compliance risks and compliance matters.

We’re interested in hearing from people who have:

  • Compliance experience related to APRA Prudential Standards, Corporations Act, Banking Act, ASIC Regulatory Guidance, Privacy and other financial services obligations, ideally from financial institutions, regulators and industry bodies.
  • Experience in technology and engineering, data and artificial intelligence, cloud, cyber, resilience, fraud and scams will be highly regarded. Otherwise, a keen interest in building strong capabilities in these areas.
  • High quality written and verbal communication skills, report writing, evidence gathering and data analysis capabilities.
  • Strong stakeholder and influencing skills with the ability to engage pragmatically as a trusted but independent business partner.
  • A curious and humble mindset, understanding of external trends and changes, interest in continuous learning, to build risk management best practice.
  • The ability to both work independently on initiatives and be a supportive and collaborative team player.
  • Experience or keen interest in leveraging artificial intelligence to improve Technology Compliance processes, and enhance data analytics and management reporting capabilities.
