Job Title:                  Texas ACE Program Specialist (Part-Time)

Primary Purpose:

 

Design, coordinate, oversee and direct programs to encourage college and career readiness and family and parental involvement in the school via real-world experiences and ongoing educational programs to immediate family members and parents/legal guardians of students enrolled in the Texas ACE Program as determined by the Nita M. Lowey 21st Century Community Learning Centers (CCLC) Grant.

 

Qualifications:

 

Education/Certification:

Bachelor’s degree required

Master’s degree preferred

 

Special Knowledge/Skills:

Strong communication and interpersonal skills to meet the needs of people from various social, educational, and economic backgrounds

Strong organizational and time management skills;

ability to meet deadlines

Strong program, administrative and computer skills

Experience with decision-making in a highly collaborative environment and ability to build effective partnerships with all stakeholders

 

Experience:

Working knowledge of local youth/family services and organizations

Experience in family support, adult education and/or development of high-quality family programs

Background in education and/or social work preferred

Major Responsibilities and Duties:

 

  1. Oversee professional development, and selection, design and implementation of family engagement activities that increase family literacy and meaningful connections to school-day

 

  1. Plan, coordinate, and implement the Family Engagement Program and College Career and Military Readiness standards in a manner consistent with the Texas ACE Guidelines

 

  1. Collaborate with ACE Program Director and Site Coordinators to recruit and retain parents of ACE students into the program and provide high-quality, innovative and education-based activities that will increase involvement in their child’s education and learning outcomes.

 

  1. Establish and maintain relationships with family members through constant contact, including a variety of mediums such as newsletters, advertisements, phone calls or other means to meet grant requirements.

 

  1. Track and maintain family participation data as required by 21st Century Grant; prepare and provide reports as required.

 

  1. Organize, facilitate and attend at least one (1) family engagement activity each month per center.

 

  1. Plan, coordinate, and provide services and activities that promote workforce awareness, job and or college readiness.

 

  1. Establish and maintain relationships with the school CTE director and teachers to provide service learning projects that allow for real-world learning experiences and assistance in the attainment of employment and/or funding for college.

 

  1. Assist in developing and implementing enrichment activities based on student interests and needs.

 

  1. Coordinate services with work-based education programs within the school and with external agencies/community partners to meet student/family needs.

 

  1. Establish community partnerships and/or community engagement that support local needs, grant requirements, and program sustainability.

 

  1. Coordinate services with programs within the school and with external agencies/community partners to meet student/family needs.

 

  1. Conduct needs assessments and surveys to determine types of activities/programs/workshops to offer.

 

  1. Establish community partnerships and/or community engagement that support local needs, grant requirements, and program sustainability through the infusion of family voice and choice.

 

  1. Attend all required Texas ACE and Robinson ISD trainings, webinars, conference calls and meetings.

 

  1. Ensure a high-quality, safe, and supportive environment for program participants, staff, and partners.

 

  1. Be available to work flexible hours to accommodate evening activities and program needs.

 

 

School/Community Relations

 

  1. Attend and be visible at campus, district, and community functions to support the efforts of students, staff, and patrons.

 

  1. Articulate the district’s mission to the community and solicit its support in realizing its mission.

 

  1. Demonstrate awareness of school-community needs and initiate activities to meet those needs based on grant.

 

  1. Use appropriate and effective techniques to encourage community and parent involvement.

 

Other Duties:

 

  1. Perform other duties as assigned by the ACE Program Director, Assistant Superintendent or Superintendent of Schools.

Maintain emotional control under stress. Work with frequent interruptions. Frequent district-wide travel; occasional prolonged and irregular hours.
