We are looking for a new colleague within the section Performance & Emissions Integration, who wants to join the Group R&D change journey.



The role offers the flexibility to be based in any of the locations where the Group HR R&D organization operates (Nürnberg, Germany; Södertälje, Sweden; Lisle, USA), depending on the candidate’s preference and location.

 

 

Role Summary

 

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Release Train Engineer (RTE) to support and drive our VCT Performance Emissions & OBD Integration. The RTE will be responsible for ensuring seamless coordination between cross-functional teams, maintaining alignment with program objectives, and enabling continuous delivery of value in a dynamic and fast-paced environment. This is a pivotal leadership role for an individual who is passionate about Agile methodologies, systems integration, and automotive technology.

 

 

Job Responsibilities

 

  • Act as the chief servant leader and coach of the VCT, guiding teams towards the successful delivery of complex system integration ensuring emissions and OBD compliance
  • Facilitate agile events (e.g., PI Planning, System Demos, daily stand-up) and ensure timely completion of program-level objectives and deliverables
  • Drive continuous improvement by identifying process bottlenecks, fostering a culture of innovation, and implementing Agile best practices tailored to automotive product development
  • Collaborate with Product Management and System Architects to clarify requirements, manage dependencies, and mitigate risks
  • Aligning time plans and deliveries inside and outside of VCT
  • Facilitate and coordinate of workflow of the VCT in Jira
  • Monitor metrics, report on program health, and proactively address obstacles to ensure the highest quality deliverables
  • Support the development of high-performing teams by mentoring Scrum Masters, Product Owners, and Agile team members
  • Communicate regularly with leadership stakeholders, providing transparency into VCT progress and program maturity
  • Ensure compliance with internal process and quality standards and external regulatory requirements for emissions and OBD systems


As our new Group is part of TRATON Group, we are closely collaborating we are working with all brands in the Group (Scania, MAN, INTERNATIONAL). In your role it’s therefore important to have a Group perspective while taking all brands into consideration.

 

 

Who You Are

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or related technical discipline
  • 5+ years of experience in engine systems or software engineering, preferably in the automotive industry
  • 2+ years of experience as a Release Train Engineer, Agile Program Manager, or similar role
  • Understanding of Agile frameworks (SAFe, Scrum, Kanban) and practical experience applying them to complex technical programs
  • Excellent facilitation, communication, and conflict resolution skills
  • Proven track record of guiding cross-disciplinary programs to successful completion
  • Experience with regulatory compliance and certification processes for emissions and diagnostics systems
  • Knowledge of vehicle performance, emissions technologies and OBD integration is highly preferred
  • Familiarity with tools such as Jira, Confluence, and DevOps pipelines
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, highly regulated, and collaborative environment
  • SAFe Release Train Engineer (RTE) certification or equivalent is a strong plus

The VCT Performance Emissions & OBD Integration consists of ten cross site teams spanning the entire development cycle from early integration concept development, via optimization of engine types for Brands in the Traton Group, to product follow up and support to production. We integrate engine and exhaust treatment hardware with software and calibration to meet legal requirements for emissions, power and OBD with optimized properties. The main operations of the VCT is in Södertälje and Nürnberg. You will report to the section manager of Performance & Emissions Integration.
