Job Summary

We are looking for dedicated Behavioral Health Nurse Practitioners who are passionate about improving mental health outcomes and delivering exceptional patient care as part of an integrated team and who will apply their clinical knowledge, skills, and techniques to assist our members with gaining proper care and disease management, diagnosis, treatment, and recovery in relation to their Behavioral Health, including addictive disorders, needs. They will evaluate, diagnose, and develop appropriate treatment plans for members who seek care via the Behavioral Health Dept. Under protocol and appropriate supervision, they will prescribe and manage psychotropic medications; order and review appropriate medical diagnostic tests; as well as refer members to specialist, as appropriate. In addition, they may provide a varying level of interventions to members including but not limited to medication management, individual therapy, group therapy and the utilization of a variety of appropriate, evidence-based psychotherapy methods to meet the treatment needs of our members.

Major Responsibilities/Essential Functions:

Assesses, develops, and coordinates a clinical treatment program for Health Plan members with acute or chronic psychiatric disorders.

Consults with staff regarding diagnosis, strengths, and deficits of member, as needed or appropriate.

Provides outpatient psychotherapy to individuals and/or groups.

Charts member’s treatments and progress in accordance with state regulations and department procedures.

Instructs and counsels members regarding compliance with prescribed therapeutic regimens.

Interprets psychiatric treatment to member’s family and helps to reduce fear and other attitudes obstructing acceptance of psychiatric care and continuation of treatment if asked to do so by member.

Makes referrals to case manager, as appropriate, and/or refers member’s family to community support services and resources. Utilizes resources of public and private agencies and community organizations to meet the needs of members.

Collaborates (under protocol) with physicians in screening and evaluating and prescribing psychotropic medications.

Reports safety concerns to mandated reporting agencies.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:

NP with Board Certification in Psychiatry/Behavioral Health

Minimum of 1-year clinical experience within Psychiatry/Behavioral Health

Competent in use of Electronic Medical Records

Proficiency and training in Psychotropic medication management

Preferred Education and Experience:

3+ years of clinical practice/experience within Psychiatry/Behavioral Health

Experience with facilitating treatment groups

Experience with individual therapy
