Position Summary

The Individual Giving Manager is responsible for executing the organization’s individual giving strategy, with a focus on cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding donors across the giving spectrum—from grassroots supporters to major donors. Working closely with the Chief Development Officer (CDO) and Executive Director, this role ensures the effective implementation of fundraising plans, supports donor engagement activities, and contributes to the growth of a strong and sustainable donor pipeline. The ideal candidate is a proactive and strategic thinker who thrives in a collaborative environment, brings creativity to problem-solving, and takes initiative to identify and fill gaps


Essential Job Functions

  

Donor Engagement & Stewardship

  • Execute donor cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship activities as directed by the Chief Development Officer.
  • Manage a portfolio of individual donors and prospects, ensuring timely and personalized outreach.
  • Work with the CDO to prepare donor communications and impact reports in coordination with senior leadership.
  • Support donor engagement events, briefings, and campaigns to strengthen relationships and increase giving.

Prospecting & Pipeline Support

  • Conduct research to identify new individual donor prospects, including potential major donors.
  • Maintain and update donor and prospect profiles in the CRM, tracking engagement and next steps.
  • Assist in preparing briefing materials and follow-up plans for donor meetings led by senior staff.

Grassroots Fundraising & Campaign Execution

  • Carry out grassroots fundraising campaigns (e.g., Giving Tuesday, year-end appeal) in alignment with organizational strategy.
  • Collaborate with communications staff to implement campaign messaging across digital and print channels.
  • In coordination with the Database Manager, monitor campaign performance and donor engagement metrics, providing regular updates to the development team.

Database & Systems Support

  • Support the Database Manager in maintaining accurate donor records, gift entry, and data integrity.
  • Assist with generating donor reports and lists for campaigns, events, and stewardship activities.
  • Coordinate with the Database Manager to ensure timely gift acknowledgments and donor communications.
  • Help troubleshoot basic data issues and ensure smooth integration of donor engagement activities with CRM systems.

Team Collaboration

  • Provide logistical and administrative support for donor meetings and events.
  • Collaborate with colleagues across departments to support fundraising and donor engagement efforts.
  • Demonstrate a solutions-oriented mindset by identifying opportunities to improve donor engagement processes and taking initiative to implement enhancements.
  • Assist the Chief Development Officer and Executive Director in executing major gift strategies and donor cultivation plans.


The Council is a fully remote employer, and this role operates in a remote work environment. Our team collaborates virtually, and we provide the necessary IT equipment to support your work.


This role requires maintaining a professional demeanor in a remote/office work setting. Responsibilities include extended periods of sitting at a desk, frequent use of a PC workstation, occasional verbal communication with team members and stakeholders via virtual platforms.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience in nonprofit fundraising, with a focus on individual giving.
  • Strong research and analytical skills, with experience using donor databases and prospecting tools.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build relationships across donor segments.
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented, with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
  • Self-motivated and resourceful, with a demonstrated ability to work independently and creatively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Commitment to the organization’s mission and values, including equity and inclusion.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience supporting major gift officers or senior leadership in donor engagement.
  • Track record of thinking outside the box to develop innovative fundraising strategies or donor engagement approaches.
  • Familiarity with grassroots fundraising strategies and digital campaign tools.
  • Proficiency in CRM systems (e.g. EveryAction or Salesforce) and prospect research platforms.

Occasional travel up to 25% may be required based on business needs, including meetings, conferences, site visits, etc., with advance notice provided whenever possible. This travel could involve overnight stays and weekend events included.


Compensation and Benefits The salary range provided reflects a reasonable estimate of the annual salary based on The Council's commitment to equitable and market-competitive pay. The actual salary offered will depend on several factors, including, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, years of experience, certifications or professional licenses, job-related skills, internal equity, and business needs.


Our compensation structure is based on industry-specific market data for similar-sized nonprofit organizations. Typically, individuals are hired at or near the starting point of the salary range for their role. Compensation decisions are made on a case-by-case basis, considering the unique facts and circumstances of each applicant.
