POSITION SUMMARY
Vertiv is seeking a skilled Technical Specialist – Compass to serve as the primary technical expert for Compass Data Centers. In this role, you will provide hands-on technical guidance, drive rapid issue resolution, and act as a key liaison between Compass and Vertiv. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, contribute to process improvements, and ensure operational excellence and customer satisfaction.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Serve as the primary technical expert for Compass Data Centers, ensuring rapid triage and resolution of issues.
- Develop and execute support programs that streamline issue resolution and enhance customer experience.
- Manage cases and solutions following established workflows, ensuring timely and accurate outcomes.
- Attend on-site meetings with Compass, providing clear summaries and actionable insights into Vertiv management.
- Collaborate with Technical Support, Design Engineering, and Customer Account Management teams to address complex technical concerns.
- Provide expert guidance during Compass down-unit calls and ensure all technical debriefs are thorough and communicated to stakeholders.
- Act as a key liaison between Compass and Vertiv for technical procedures, engineering requests, and service processes.
- Create and maintain Compass-specific service procedures and MOPs to support consistent operations.
- Participate in NPDi Serviceability Reviews, RCAR processes, and ETO reviews for Compass products.
- Maintain strong customer relationships with a focus on collaboration, transparency, and proactive communication.
- Communicate product updates, Service Bulletins, FDS, and FCNs to Compass as required.
- Provide on-site technical assistance and contribute to technical initiatives for other customers as needed.
- Attend new product training and professional development courses to stay current with evolving technologies.
- Model and promote safety standards consistently, ensuring compliance with Vertiv and Compass guidelines.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Minimum of five years Mechanical or HVAC Engineering degree. Alternatively, military technical training or electronic certification with five years of relevant technical experience.
- Minimum of four years of field service and/or technical support experience with demonstrated expertise in HVAC mechanical and control schemes.
- Knowledge and experience in HVAC product design and forensic analysis preferred.
- Knowledgeable in Quality Systems process, Continuous Improvement, FMEA, a plus
- Experience with HVAC system ancillary controls like BMS, MODBUS, CAN communications, and PLC is a plus.
- Strong customer service communication and interaction skills.
- Excellent writing and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Possess a positive attitude and flexibility in a rapidly changing environment.
- Detail-oriented and self-motivated with the ability to work without direct supervision.
- Proficient PC skills including all Microsoft Office products and web-based technologies.
- Demonstrate ability in electrical circuit understanding and troubleshooting.
- Possesses leadership skills.
WORKING CONDITIONS
- Travel up to 20% of the time may be required.
- Reactive, fast-paced, and high-profile environment working on-site at the Compass Dallas location.
- After-hours on-call availability support events on Compass thermal products.
- Flexible schedule (Weekends, evenings, holidays)
