Central New Brunswick Woodlands- JD Irving Ltd., is seeking a highly motivated and organized Trucking Operations Manager, based in Chipman, New Brunswick., to oversee daily transportation operations within our forestry supply chain. This role is critical to ensure the safe, efficient, and cost-effective movement of forest products from harvest sites to mills and other destinations. The successful candidate will lead a team of drivers and work closely with contractors, dispatchers, and operations staff to maintain high standards of safety, compliance, and productivity.
Working Conditions:
- Primarily field-based with some office work.
- May require early mornings, evenings, and occasional weekend availability.
- Exposure to outdoor environments and forestry operations.
Responsibilities
- Supervise and coordinate daily trucking operations, including scheduling, routing, and dispatching.
- Ensure compliance with all safety regulations, company policies, and transportation laws.
- Monitor driver performance, conduct safety meetings, and provide coaching and training as needed.
- Collaborate with forestry operations, logistics, and mill teams to optimize transportation efficiency.
- Manage relationships with third-party trucking contractors and ensure service level agreements are met.
- Track and report on KPIs such as delivery times, fuel usage, and maintenance schedules.
- Respond to incidents, breakdowns, and emergencies, ensuring timely resolution and reporting.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives in transportation and logistics.
Qualifications
- Post-secondary education in logistics, transportation, forestry, or related fields is preferred, but not required.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in transportation or logistics, ideally in a supervisory role.
- Strong understanding of DOT regulations, safety standards, and fleet management.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in basic computer skills (ex. Microsoft Office).
- Valid Class 5 driver’s license; Class 1 license is an asset.
