Position Summary
The Patient Care Assistant (PCA) provides direct, hands-on care and behavioral support to pediatric patients with medical and psychiatric needs. Working closely with licensed nurses and an interdisciplinary team, the PCA helps create a therapeutic environment that promotes safety, healing, and growth.
Key Responsibilities
Provide direct care and supervision for pediatric patients, assisting with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) such as bathing, dressing, feeding, transfers, and grooming.
Observe, monitor, and accurately document patients’ behavior, affect, participation, and vital signs.
Foster a safe, structured, and nurturing environment consistent with trauma-informed care practices.
Support therapeutic and educational programming, recreational activities, and behavioral interventions.
Assist in the implementation of individualized care and behavioral support plans under clinical direction.
Respond to patient crises using approved de-escalation and intervention techniques to ensure safety.
Collaborate closely with nurses, therapists, pediatricians, psychiatrists, and behavioral specialists to ensure integrated and compassionate care.
Licensure & Certifications
De-escalation Training – required within 30 days of hire
CPR / BLS Certification – required
