Access Services is hiring a Team Lead for our day program in Allentown, PA! 

The day program is an empowering community of adults of all ages with intellectual disabilities and autism. The program focuses on empowering the program participants to reach their highest level of Independence. Through a person-centered approach, staff create opportunities for individuals in the program to engage with one another and their community through volunteer opportunities, recreational activities, and ADL (activities of daily living) skill building.  

 

The Team Lead’s goal is to ensure the program’s services are fulfilled to regulatory and ISP (individual support plan) standards for each individual. To ensure these services are provided, the Team Lead coordinates the daily operations of the staff who work directly with each participant. As a person-centered program, the team lead incorporates the individuals' goals, needs, preferences, and strengths into all aspects of daily operations. Some of the daily operations include: 

  • Planning recreational activities. 
  • Ensuring the daily events occur within schedule.  
  • Review daily service notes from staff, ensuring that each individual's goals have been met that day. 
  • Act as a consultant to the program specialist on supervision the staff in program. As the eyes and ears of the space.  

The time split between admin work and direct care work with individuals differs on a daily basis. Some days 80% of time can be spent on the computer completing administrative duties. Some days 80% of time can be spent working directly with individuals, in the program or out in the community 

Because of the mix of front facing and admin work, time management skills are vital for the team lead! A large part of ensuring the daily goals are being met is proper documentation of each individual’s progress, keeping accuracy and compliance front of mind.  

  • Other Admin tasks:  
  • Documenting petty cash 
  • Tracking the agency cars' health and mileage 
  • Assigning a daily schedule of client and staff pairings, including communication with caregivers and transportation. 

Other Functions of the Team Lead: 

  1. Work on tasks assigned by the program specialist with the highest degree of dependability. 
  2. Support the responsibilities of the program specialist in their absence.  
  3. Conduct and facilitate the implementation of Individualized Support Plans (ISP). 
  4. Ensure the highest quality of care to individuals in helping them meet their needs. 
  5. Complete daily program schedule and transportation schedule assigned for program staff members and consumers. 
  6. Assist with obtaining and maintaining volunteer sites. 
  7. Provide direct supervision of designated program support staff including, but not limited to, the completion of performance feedback and regular supervision meetings. 
  8. Attend quarterly and ISP team meetings for individuals in the program as assigned. 
  9. Complete paperwork and obtain the documentation needed to ensure that individual books are in compliance with licensing regulations as assigned. 
  10. Participate in regular meetings with team leaders to discuss consistency in scheduling practices, develop new ideas and enhance communication and teamwork between the program locations. Travel to meetings and training throughout the regions we serve in.

Requirements

Requirements and Qualifications 

Incumbent must meet all qualifying and ongoing job criteria including background checks, physical examination results, and clearances.

Driving Requirements:  

    • A valid driver's license, and access to a reliable vehicle during work hours. 
    • A U.S. driver’s license for at least two years (not including time with a permit). 
    • Must be listed as a driver on a valid auto insurance policy.

 

Education: High school diploma or GED preferred. 

Certification: Current certifications in First Aid, CPR, Medication Administration, and Community Participation Supports for DSP are required within six months of hire and will be provided and paid for by Access Services.  

Experience:  

  • Three (3) years of direct care experience in the human services field, with at least one (1) year of direct care experience in the Intellectual Disability and Autism (ID/A) field required.  
  • Supervisory and/or administrative experience is strongly preferred.  

  

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:  

  • Knowledge of crisis intervention and behavioral management techniques and principles. 
  • Knowledge and ability to develop and write appropriate outcome statements. 
  • Ability to teach others. 
  • Proficiency in, or ability to learn and use Microsoft Office Suite, Word and Excel. 
  • Proficiency in, or ability to learn and use, workplace applications, platforms and technologies.  
  • Ability to navigate network drives and basic hardware use and troubleshooting. 

Essential Working Conditions/Physical Demands:  

  • Work in program sites and the community routinely providing direct care and support with individual(s). 
  • Stand, sit or run by self, or to provide proper care and supervision with an individual. Able to move and stay with an individual to keep them safe, both in home environment and community, both at near and far distances, even when an individual may struggle to meet identified expectations.  
  • Able to assist an individual who has fallen, regardless of weight or size. Walk, climb stairs by self, or to provide direct care ensuring individual’s safety, or to complete household and community tasks.  
  • Perform household tasks or tasks within the community such as laundry, cleaning, completing meal routines, shopping or dining out and, at the same time, ensuring individual’s safety and proper direct care and compliance with ISP.

Schedule and Compensation: 

  • The hourly rate for this position starts at $19/hour with increases based on education and experience  
  • This is a full-time role with the schedule of Monday-Friday 8AM-4PM based in our Allentown, PA Day program. The team lead is expected to maintain regular and predictable attendance, and work scheduled overtime, or be available for unplanned overtime as necessary, to meet program needs. 
  • This is a client-facing position that does not include remote or hybrid work schedule options. This job requires on-site presence due to the nature of the role and responsibilities.
