This role helps to foster self-reliance, care for the poor and the needy, and provide opportunities for giving and service by: helping members become economically and emotionally self-reliant; providing access to essential food and clothing items, helping members prepare for and respond to disasters; and providing humanitarian aid to relieve suffering; thus furthering the mission of the Church. Under the direction of the immediate supervisor, and in compliance with Welfare Services' policies and procedures, the incumbent is responsible to assist in general labor activities to meet the assigned production plan and maintain a safe and sanitary facility. The incumbent's duties may include: preparing and assisting with packaging lines for daily production runs, including operating a variety equipment, casing and palletizing, operating lift-trucks, cleaning the facility, and other duties as assigned.
The position presently includes an on-site arrangement, 10-hours a day, four days a week, in the Garden City Cannery. This position requires you to be present during harvest time (August to December) for around 10 hours a day, four days a week, which may at times include overtime pay.

Responsibilities
50%: Operate equipment and/or packaging lines to meet production plan.
25%: Maintain safety and sanitation standards of the facility.
10%: Assists in preparing packaging lines for daily production runs to ensure Good Manufacturing Processes (GMP) and quality control standards are met.
10%: Operate lift-trucks for staging materials.
5%: Monitors product codes and ensures that identification labels are properly applied.
Qualifications
Required
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Two years production experience.
• Able to learn principles of GMP and quality control standards.
• Must be capable to complete lift-truck certifications.
• Must be able to work independently.
• Must be capable of climbing stairs/ladders, lifting up to 50 lbs, standing for extended periods, bending over, stooping, work in hot or cold and/or dusty or dirty environments.
• Able to learn and demonstrate new skills relating to food production.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.
Preferred
• Bachelor’s degree in business, production or similar field.
• Food production experience.
