The Batchmixer I is responsible for combining the raw materials into a quality blend, tablet, or encapsulated form to produce finished products following strict guidelines for production to meet required standards. This includes performing those duties necessary to compound batches of various products, including encapsulation, weighing and blending, granulation, tableting, coating, cleaning, packaging, warehousing, and any other required processes in accordance with approved production documents and appropriate operating procedures.

ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Performs and is proficient in all duties of a Batchmixer 2.
  • Acts as a trainer for Batchmixer 2’s and Batchmixer 1 trainees.
  • Cleans sets-up and operates the equipment used in tableting, coating, and encapsulation, and packaging.
  • Maintains logbooks for equipment detailing operating parameters, cleaning, use and maintenance.
  • Monitors equipment for wear and/or mechanical problems and performs routine cleaning and lubrication according to approved procedures.
  • Performs reconciliation of final dosage form yields at completion of the encapsulation, tableting or coating process.
  • Perform and is proficient in SAP tranactions. 
  • Notifies supervision of any unusual characteristics or out-of-specification condition noted.
  • Must be able to identify any variations of the processing operation that might impact quality of product or production process and report unusual occurrences to supervision
  • Calculates amount of ingredients to be weighed for coating solution, following instructions in batch coating records for each individual product.
  • Adhere to guidelines and prepare the necessary documentation to insure accuracy and compliance
  • Pulls in-process samples at specified intervals for routine product monitoring and for submission to QA.
  • Assists or performs other jobs as assigned by supervision.
  • Cross-trains as required to perform as a “loan-out” in other departments (i.e. Packaging Warehouse or any other area resources are required). 

QUALIFICATIONS – EDUCATION, WORK EXPERIENCE, CERTIFICATIONS:

  • AS Degree in Chemical Technology or related field (preferred) or High school diploma or equivalent
  • Two to three years experience as a Batchmixer 2

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Ability to read and comprehend cGMP's and SOP’s
  • Must be able to perform all duties of Batchmixer 2
  • Good math skills with a good working knowledge of the metric system
  • Above average physical stamina
  • Good vision and color perception
  • Ability to make accurate measures and maintain neat work environment
  • Above average mechanical skills and aptitude
  • Ability to work any shift and overtime as required
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Competence in use of Company standard software packages (e.g., Outlook, Word)
  • SAP experience
  • Strong knowledge of cGMPs, Batch Documents and SOPs
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • High level of dependability and integrity.
