Job Summary:
The Ski and Snowboard Program Supervisor will provide critical support to the program, leadership team, and instructors during the winter season. They will be responsible for administrative, programmatic, and instructor support to ensure all elements of the guest experience are set up for success. The supervisor will also serve as a lead resource by providing support on lessons as needed.
This is a seasonal position for the winter season, approximately late November through mid-April. This position requires a minimum of a 3-day commitment for supervisory duties on Sundays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays, but the ideal candidate will also be able to teach lessons 1-2 days a week. Ideally, we are looking for someone who is available to work 4-5 days a week with a schedule that will include Sunday-Wednesday, with either Saturday or Thursday as the 5th day depending on commitment level. This position is not eligible for remote work, and it requires work on holidays, as applicable.
Essential Duties:
- Provide high-level, detailed, administrative support to the ski and snowboard program managers and instructors. This includes but is not limited to: oversight of timecards for seasonal instructors, oversight of progress notes, organization of electronic file tracking, support with scheduling as needed, and assisting instructors with technological issues as needed.
- Act as primary support for instructors for any lesson assistance they may need.
- Support with group needs such as intake, gear assignments, instructor pairings, and wrap-up/closing meetings.
- Act as a responsible shareholder with rental process & cultivating relationships with organizational partners
- Assist with tracking lesson information in Salesforce with accurate data entry.
- Regularly report the following to the Senior Managers: detailed observations, success stories, and challenges with group and individual dynamics in program implementation.
- Support the Senior Managers with updating and maintaining program policy and procedures manuals.
- Provide professional and courteous customer service for both internal and external customers; including greeting visitors, answering phones, and leading facility tours as needed.
- Assist with key fundraising events and other special events as needed to help advance program goals and support; serves as an ambassador and representative for the National Ability Center
Minimum Qualifications:
- At least one year of leadership experience including staff supervision, customer service, program facilitation, and logistical organization (-OR- three+ years of experience working in adaptive recreation, recreation, or a group home, therapy setting, working with a variety of disabilities and medical diagnosis).
- Ability to ski/sb on blue terrain with varied turn shape and speed control.
- Experience working with and general familiarity of all adaptive ski equipment and solutions to help troubleshoot any issues which may arise.
- Ability to work 3 days per week as a supervisor (Sundays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays); preferred to also teach lessons 1-2 days per week (minimum of Sunday-Wednesday, 5th day if applicable would be Saturday or Thursday).
- Strong computer skills in Microsoft Office, Google Suite, Salesforce, Paylocity.
- Experience working in all adaptive ski disciplines.
- Pass pre-employment background check.
- Must be at least 18 years old.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Associate’s degree in Therapeutic Recreation, Special Education, Kinesiology, PT/OT/ST or three years working in adaptive recreation.
- Experience facilitating adaptive ski lessons; PSIA/AASI certification preferred.
- Experience teaching adaptive sit-ski lessons.
- Experience coaching peers with program implementation.
- General knowledge and experience with behavior management techniques; MANDT training preferred.
- Current First Aid and CPR certification or the ability to obtain.

- Ability to take initiative and adapt using innovative solutions to provide personalized experiences for every participant based on their individual needs and goals.
- Demonstrated leadership experience and ability to lead by example, motivate a team, and teach, coach, and mentor staff personnel at varying levels of proficiency and experience.
- Ability to positively receive feedback and to provide effective feedback and job coaching for development of self and others.
- Ability to work with other department leads to ensure development, collaboration, and execution for shared goals.
- Ability to make quick educated program decisions based on the mission, needs, and strategic plan.
- Strong organizational and communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Strong work ethic and an entrepreneurial spirit to accommodate multiple responsibilities and shifting priorities in a quick-paced environment.
- Demonstrated ability and willingness to work productively and collaboratively within a team.

- Proficiency in basic computer programs such as MS Office Programs, Google Suite, Instructor Salesforce Instructor Portal, and Salesforce as needed
Working Conditions:
- Ability to lift and maneuver persons and/ or adaptive equipment with a minimum of 50 lbs. while facilitating lessons -OR- while assisting lessons, moving equipment, etc.
- Ability to work indoors and outdoors while facilitating programming activities in various weather conditions, including extreme weather conditions.
- Ability to work 3 days per week as a supervisor (Sundays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays); preferred to also teach lessons 1-2 days per week (minimum of Sunday-Wednesday, 5th day if applicable would be Saturday or Thursday).
- Requires work on some holidays, as applicable.
