GENERAL PURPOSE OF THE JOB:   

Responsibilities include supervision of External Wholesalers and outreach toward potential sources of new business for Eagle Life Insurance Company.  This includes recruitment of wholesalers, broker dealers, and representatives; training of wholesalers, broker dealers, and representatives; effectively communicating with internal and external customers regarding the ongoing marketing efforts and services to broker dealers and representatives.  Also included; research of current economic environment trends, monitor competition’s marketing strategies, and travel to various events with possible public speaking.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:  

  • Directs a staff of external wholesalers, including responsibility for hiring, training and performance coaching, and management; completes in person field travel with External Wholesalers to provide training and coaching.
  • Maintains accountability for sales goal achievement, including but not limited to respective objectives and key results and/or achievements.
  • Meets regularly with External Wholesalers to review business plan execution, acquisition/retention activity and sales results.
  • Reviews wholesaler performance compared to goals, productions and training needs.
  • Maintains relationships with wholesalers, broker dealers, and representatives.
  • Resolves escalated calls/issues when necessary.
  • Collaboration with internal partners including sales desk, marketing, national accounts and data enablement to increase wholesaler efficiency.
  • Maintains an awareness of market behavior and competitive trends in fixed indexed annuity market to anticipate changing customer needs; proactively manage customer base.
  • Incentive program creation and execution
  • Handles administrative work such as: travel planning and appointment setting
  • Develops and provides reporting and data (includes expense and regular weekly reporting).
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:  

  • Deep relationships with enterprise leaders and centers of influence in independent broker dealers.
  • Relationships on the West Coast in major warehouses and money center banks.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Direct Reports: 10-14 employees

General Description of Indirect Reports (2 and 3-downs): None

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:  

Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) from four-year college or university in business administration, marketing or related field of study; or four or more years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, PROFESSIONAL DESIGNATIONS:

  • State Insurance License
  • Series 6 (series 7 preferred)
  • Series 26 (preferred)

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:   

  • Strong customer service orientation.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Mathematical skills and strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to work cooperatively and successfully with employees, customers, and other outside third parties.
  • Strong organizational and planning skills.
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals and technical/operational procedures.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to successfully handle pressure and meet deadlines in a fast-paced work environment.
