Working arrangements: The specified personnel will be required to work onsite and or remotely for this engagement, on a hybrid model of 50/50. Candidate must be based in Sydney.

Length of contract: 24 months from the commencement date of the contract

Contract extensions: A new contract may be offered depending on project requirements

Security clearance: Must be able to obtain Baseline

Rates: $120 - $150 per hour (inc. super)


The Australian Securities & Investments Commission (ASIC) are undertaking major technology projects that will transform our business and continue our significant technology transformation in several areas such as digital, registry and cloud. We make use of the latest technology with an increasing focus on data and AI which will make ASIC a 'best in class' regulator supporting the Australian financial markets. 

ASIC is seeking up to 5 Senior Solution Architects who will be responsible for the quality of solution architecture work across an organisation. They will be required to provide technical leadership in the design and implementation of systems and software to solve business problems.

The role will be responsible for, but not limited to:

  • Taking responsibility for Design and Architecture and adherence to ASIC wide Vision and Enterprise Architecture standards and blueprints
  • Providing architecture and design leadership and guidance (working with analysts, designers, other architects, and developers) in achieving project outcomes that align with whole of ASIC strategy and direction
  • Producing solution designs, integration designs and associated functional specifications
  • Implementing operational solutions based on the EA target reference architecture and ASIC's Technology Principles and adhering to Australian Government Architecture standards and guidelines
  • Scoping and designing the overarching solution design in conjunction with Subject Matter Experts, Project Managers and other Architects
  • Developing proposals and business cases
  • Liaising with stakeholders as needed to understand client and customer needs in a rapidly evolving environment
  • Ensuring that recommended architectural and technology solutions satisfy current and future business needs, ensuring effective, secure, scalable, convergent, flexible and manageable solutions of high standards
  • Ensuring that recommended architectural solutions are convergent to take advantage of internal and external needs along with a broad range of service needs
  • Contributing to the quality of technical solutions developed by other Solution Architects
  • Contributing to estimating resource and capacity requirements for the application solution
  • Providing expertise to assist with high priority production and deployment issues
  • Contributing to the operations and improvement of ASIC’s Architecture Governance process, including leading discussions at Architecture Boards to seek endorsement or direction on key architecture decisions
  • Supporting the operations of the Solution Architecture team, including BAU activities
  • Contributing and maintaining an architecture repository in an Enterprise Architecture tool

Qualifications and experience required:

  • TOGAF certification highly desirable
  • ArchiMate certification desirable
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in information technology, computer science or related discipline
  • Extensive experience in a similar Solution Architect role

Knowledge and Technical Skills required:

  • Extensive experience in designing end-to-end solution architectures aligned with enterprise target reference architecture and enterprise principles
  • Experience developing architecture blueprints and technology roadmaps
  • Proven experience in providing leadership and guidance across the domains of application architecture and integration
  • Proven experience in one or more of the following: APIs and integration, digital experience and portal technologies, case management and workflows, low-code application platforms, digital identity and access management
  • Proficiency in ASIC’s primary technology platforms: Boomi, Dynamics 365 CRM, OutSystems, .NET, SharePoint, Optimizely, Databricks, Azure and AWS Integration in a secured environment
  • Knowledge of ASIC’s legacy technology platforms: Adabas / Natural Mainframe, Lotus Notes, Siebel, Java, Oracle Service Bus
  • Experience in delivering Digital Experience projects and technologies, including Digital Experience Platforms (DXP) desirable
  • Experience architecting solutions in multi-cloud environments (M365, Azure and AWS)
  • Experience in Agile delivery methodology and DTA’s Digital Service Standards, service design and delivery process desirable

  • Works well with Enterprise Architecture, Design and Analysis, Service Delivery and Project teams

  • Problem solving, analytical and critical thinking skills for investigating and resolving stakeholder, client or system concerns, and for improving work practices and processes
  • Issue ownership through to resolution.

Capabilities required:

  • Technology strategy, solutions and advice - The demonstrated ability to adopt a client focused consulting approach with the business, partnering with stakeholders to develop technology led strategies and solutions aligned to current and emerging needs, and to provide strategic advisory services that enable regulatory responses.
  • Business process and project management - The demonstrated ability to acquire, maintain and apply a high-level understanding - to the extent consistent with IT’s advisory and enabling role - of ASIC’s evolving regulatory and legal environment as well as relevant industry / market dynamics; acquire commercial acumen in order to support internal clients to produce effective strategies and solutions.
  • Stakeholder engagement and communication - The demonstrated ability to build, maintain and utilise networks and relationships within ASIC and across external stakeholders (i.e. industry, government, other regulatory bodies); an ability to effectively communicate with stakeholders to enable / achieve effective regulatory outcomes and to produce effective strategies and solutions.
  • Analytical skills - The demonstrated ability to think critically when extracting and interpreting information; mine and analyse data to connect patterns, identify trends and characterise and prioritise key issues and risks; think laterally about issues in order to enable and produce effective strategies and solutions; effect broader problem solving/business issue analysis.
