THE VACANCY:
This recruitment is open and promotional, meaning all are welcome to apply and current employees in permanent positions are eligible to receive seniority credit and promotional placement once passing all exams.
There is currently one vacancy working 8 hours per day, 5 days per week, 10 months per year (follows student school calendar).
Special Requirement: Effective September 1, 2016, California Health and Safety Code Section 1596.7995, requires that no person shall be employed at a preschool if they have not been immunized against influenza (flu), pertussis (whooping cough) and measles. Persons may be employed conditionally, for a maximum of 30 days, if they need time to obtain/provide their immunization records and they submit a written statement attesting they have been immunized. Otherwise, they must be immunized (or meet the exemption requirements) before commencing employment.

BASIC FUNCTION:
Under the direction of the Administrative Director II, Early Childhood Education or designee and/or Principal, plan, monitor, and oversee the development of goals and objectives consistent with students' needs; organize and implement approved curriculum for the development of children enrolled in the District Preschool program; oversee a single site program and serve as an on-site lead teacher to assist staff and serve as coordinator of curriculum and staff development; initiate communication with the school community and related agencies as needed.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Any combination equivalent to: graduation from high school supplemented by 24 units of college-level course work in early childhood education and one year experience working with preschool-age children in an organized setting.
NOTE: 24 semester units of Early Childhood Education or Child Development are required. Transcripts must be included with application. LICENSES AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
Valid Child Development Program Director permit, Site Facilitator permit or equivalent.
Valid CPR/First Aid certificate.
Valid California class C driver's license.

Minimum Qualifications
REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES:
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
Plan, monitor and oversee the development of goals and objectives consistent with preschool students' needs; organize and implement approved curriculum for the development of children enrolled in the District Preschool program; develop goals and objectives consistent with student needs.
Oversee a single or multiple site preschool program and serve as an on-site lead teacher; serve as coordinator of curriculum and staff development; assist preschool staff to plan, organize and implement approved curriculum for the development of children enrolled in the District Preschool program; plan and create weekly lesson plans.
Monitor, assess and adjust learning activities in response to the progress, needs and interests of children.
Provide supervision, care and learning activities to preschool-age children in a classroom and outdoor environment in accordance with established guidelines, standards and requirements.
Initiate communication with the school community and related agencies as needed; communicate effectively with district on-site personnel.
Lead teaching team in maintaining ongoing developmental records for each child, including: child observation notes and completion of developmental profile (DRDP+).
Participate in program evaluation through analysis of student assessment, individual classroom environment assessment and parent survey results; administer individual student assessments according to District requirements.
Provide a warm, safe and caring learning environment that is kept orderly, clean and appealing and in compliance with Environment Rating Scale or similar tool.
Lead classroom teaching team in the supervision of children in the classroom, on the playground and field trips.
Attend appropriate licensing training and ensure that site and assigned staff comply with licensing requirements and protocols.
Facilitate student enrollment in accordance with state criteria; take and record attendance.
Assist in recruiting students and facilitating creation and maintenance of classrooms and playgrounds.
Develop lesson plans in accordance with establishes policies; set up and prepare materials to promote student learning.
Compile and maintain data and other information related to students; prepare and maintain a variety of records and reports related to assigned preschool site; assist with state evaluation reports.
Perform adjunct duties to promote student learning and a safe environment for children and adults.
Greet, assist and confer with children, parents, guardians and others during child pick-ups and drop offs; encourage parent involvement in child learning activities; provide information concerning individual student progress; confer with parents concerning child progress and behavior as appropriate; conduct parent conferences as assigned.
Assist in setting-up playground environment and materials for students to develop gross motor skills.
Operate a variety of classroom, playground and office equipment including a copier, printer, fax machine, laminator, projector, computer and assigned software.
Attend meetings and participate in training workshops, conferences, courses and a variety of professional growth activities as required; provide parent education concerning child development.
Provide training and work direction to assistants and volunteers; provide input for staff evaluations as requested.
Ensure site personnel policies are followed.
