PRIMARY FUNCTIONS: The Research Assistant works with Neighborhood Health’s Associate Director of Clinical Ultrasound to support the research needs to complete and meet the requirements as outlined by the American Board of Family Medicine Foundation Grant Proposal that is studying the impact of Neighborhood Health’s Point of Care Ultrasound (POCUS) on prenatal health outcomes. The Research Assistant will support additional quality improvement and research initiatives focused on evaluating the quality of ultrasound examinations performed at a community health center. The role involves assisting with data collection, chart reviews, literature searches, quality assessments, and administrative coordination. He or she reviews data from quality reports and electronic medical records and interprets and shares data with the research team. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, has strong data collection experience and interested in clinical research and health care quality improvement.

DUTIES/ RESPONSIBILITIES: (Essential Functions: Duties and responsibilities noted with bullets are considered to be the essential functions of the job).
- Assists with collecting research data in accordance to the research calendar and for reporting at monthly or bi-monthly research committee meetings.
- Assists with analyzing data and ensuring systems are in place for continuous monitoring of the data.
- Assists with other Point of Care Ultrasound quality improvement projects by working with providers that perform ultrasounds at Neighborhood Health
- Conduct retrospective chart reviews to extract ultrasound reports, images, and related patient data in accordance with study protocols.
- Collect and organize data from electronic health records, ultrasound machines, and other relevant sources.
- Perform quality checks on data to ensure accuracy, completeness, and consistency.
- Conduct literature searches and summarize findings related to ultrasound quality standards, best practices, and benchmarks.
- Assist in preparing figures, tables, and reports for internal review, presentations, and publications.
- Maintain study files and records in compliance with IRB and institutional guidelines.
- Support preparation of IRB submissions, renewals, and amendments.
- Schedule meetings, prepare agendas, and document meeting minutes for the research team.
- Employee will be asked to perform additional duties and take on other responsibilities as dictated by events and circumstances.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Associate Degree; Bachelor’s degree preferred
- Experience in healthcare setting strongly preferred.
- Previous experience in clinical or health services research preferred.
- Ability to use electronic medical record.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office including Excel and Word
- Strong skills in data management and proficiency with REDCap, or other research databases.
- Ability to evaluate and present clinical data
- Excellent written and communication skills
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage numerous projects and priorities at once
- Positive, service-oriented attitude with the skill to foster and maintain relationships
- Willingness to work independently and as part of a team
