The American Academy of Dermatology is seeking an Associate Director, Registry Operations located in our Rosemont, IL. office responsible for overseeing all operational, compliance, and recruitment aspects of DataDerm, the American Academy of Dermatology’s clinical data registry. Responsible for ensuring registry integrity, regulatory adherence, and optimized user experience through a high-functioning, scalable registry platform. Lead the execution of recruitment and retention strategies to expand registry participation and drive strategic growth. Identify and implement revenue-generating opportunities through the registry platform, including premium features, industry partnerships, and data licensing strategies. Collaborate across departments and with external partners to support AAD’s strategic objectives related to registry adoption, compliance, and impact. Ensure strategic alignment of DataDerm goals and objectives with the broader mission and long-term vision of the AAD.

Responsibilities:
- Lead all operational components of DataDerm, ensuring seamless functionality, user support, EHR integration, data submission workflows, and registry infrastructure performance.
- Drive strategic recruitment initiatives to expand registry participation across diverse dermatology practice settings, including Academic Medical Centers and large health systems. Supervise and support recruitment and retention campaigns, outreach planning, and relationship management all of which address unique barriers and facilitate long-term participation in DataDerm.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders (Advocacy & Policy, Education, Marketing) and external vendors to implement registry solutions that align with AAD’s regulatory, federal policy, quality, data, and education goals.
- Work closely with the registry vendor to identify, prioritize, and oversee enhancements that improve platform functionality, user experience, and interoperability. Ensure highest level of platform performance.
- Leverage DataDerm infrastructure to conceive, develop, and implement new revenue strategies, including premium service tiers, data access licensing, and sponsored initiatives.
- Manage contracts, vendor relationships, and budgets associated with revenue generating activities, such as data licensing and collaborations with corporate partners.
- In collaboration with Director, establish and monitor KPIs related to registry participant and QCDR compliance, operational efficiency, and practice recruitment.
- Support implementation of new registry features, modules, and services by prioritizing and developing requirements and managing timelines with vendor and appropriate stakeholders.
Requirements:
- Advanced degree (e.g., MS, MPH, PhD) in healthcare administration, epidemiology, data science, business administration or public health (or related field) required.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in healthcare operations, regulatory compliance, or registry management.
- Minimum of 6 years of people management experience with a combination of direct and indirect supervision.
- Understanding the environment as it relates to the development, implementation, and maintenance of clinical registries, including EHR integration, third party reporting, HIPAA compliance, etc. required.
- Experience working with physicians, healthcare specialty societies, and/or other relevant stakeholders required.
- Proficiency with healthcare compliance reporting preferred.
- Deep understanding of clinical registry operations, compliance, and recruitment strategies.
- Expertise with CMS QPP/MIPS, HIPAA, data privacy regulations, and EHR interoperability.
- Knowledge of the national healthcare quality landscape and patient care issues within medicine. An ability to work with members on complex issues and represent the specialty when necessary.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication abilities.
- Proficiency in project management methodologies
- Familiarity with budget development and oversight.
- Ability to collaborate across technical, clinical, and administrative domains.
- Ability to execute projects and programs under minimal supervision.
- High level of skill in leading and supervising people and work processes.
- Must have outstanding organizational and strategic skills, excellent writing ability, ability to juggle multiple deadlines,
- Strong customer service and volunteer relations skills.
