Job Summary:

The Director FP&A is responsible for leading financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis activities. The ideal candidate will own the Corporate FP&A process, management reporting (including own BOD reporting and support lender financials analysis) and strategic analysis for the enterprise.  He/She will provide strategic insights to help guide business decision-making, maintain financial health, and drive performance improvements. This position will collaborate with all Business Unit (BU) and site finance teams, senior leadership, business partners, and other departments to analyze trends, monitor financial performance, and support the organization’s growth goals. Please note that this position requires the Director FP&A to be onsite in the Chicago headquarters.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Financial Planning & Budgeting: Oversee the business unit’s budgeting process, to ensure alignment with business objectives, preparing and reviewing detailed financial plans, and recommending adjustments as necessary.
  • Forecasting: Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual forecasting processes to project future financial outcomes, assessing potential risks and opportunities.
  • Financial Analysis: Partner with VP FP&A and CFO in conducting in-depth financial analysis, including variance analysis, profitability analysis, and cost analysis, to provide insights into business performance and identify areas for improvement.
  • Management Reporting & OneStream: Prepare and present financial reports for business unit senior management summarizing key financial metrics and operational performance. Support OneStream enhancements to support FP&A objectives.
  • Strategic Decision Support: Partner with leadership and departments to evaluate business initiatives, investments, and new opportunities by providing data-driven recommendations.
  • Cash Flow Management: Monitor cash flow and net working capital to ensure liquidity and recommend strategies to optimize working capital.
  • KPIs & Metrics: Develop and maintain financial KPIs, dashboards, and other metrics to evaluate the health of the business.
  • Process Improvement: Identify opportunities to streamline and automate financial processes to improve efficiency and data accuracy.
  • Team Leadership: Manage and mentor FP&A managers / analysts and support the development of their technical and analytical skills.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate with other teams, such as accounting, operations, sales, and marketing, to ensure alignment in financial planning and budgeting.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field (Master’s degree or CPA preferred).
  • 5+ years of experience in financial planning and analysis, with at least 2-3 years in a managerial role.
  • Fluency working in OneStream, or similar mature EPM within FP&A environment.
  • Strong proficiency in financial modeling, forecasting, and budgeting.
  • Advanced knowledge of financial software and tools (Excel, ERP systems, Power BI, or similar reporting tools).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to synthesize complex data into actionable insights.
  • Experience managing cross-functional teams and building relationships with senior leadership.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to present complex financial information to non-financial stakeholders.
  • High attention to detail, accuracy, and a proactive approach to identifying issues and solutions.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with large mature public organizations and strong understanding of best-in-class FP&A processes. Knowledge of ‘what great FP&A looks like’ and desire to implement best practices in emerging environment.
  • Knowledge of GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and financial reporting standards.
  • Familiarity with private equity environments, M&A processes, including financial due diligence and post-merger integration.
