Position Overview:
Ecoservices is seeking a Senior Laboratory Analyst to support laboratory operations at our Long Beach, California plant. This full-time role reports to the Laboratory Manager and plays a key part in driving analytical excellence, environmental compliance, and continuous improvement initiatives. The ideal candidate will bring deep technical expertise, strong leadership, and the ability to collaborate across departments on complex projects. This position may require weekend coverage depending on site needs.
What You Will Be Doing:
- Lead complex lab assignments and special projects in collaboration with lab supervision
- Provide analytical support for plant operations including testing of raw materials, in-process samples, finished products, and wastewater
- Perform daily calibrations and QA/QC to ensure accuracy of testing
- Troubleshoot and maintain laboratory instruments and equipment
- Manage and update calibration schedules for all quality-critical equipment
- Create, revise, and approve site-specific and shared laboratory procedures
- Register sample results in the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) and issue reports
- Utilize SAP QM module and other lab data systems for operational efficiency
- Conduct non-routine chemical and physical tests using techniques such as ion chromatography, ICP, and wet chemistry
- Generate and issue Certificates of Analysis to customers
- Support process improvement, process safety, and analytical initiatives across ECO Services
- Lead and participate in environmental audits and compliance activities
- Manage laboratory waste in accordance with plant policies and procedures
- Perform field testing on plant equipment and support troubleshooting efforts
- Conduct safety inspections and participate in recurring safety meetings
- Recommend procedural changes to enhance safety and efficiency
- Communicate effectively with all levels of plant personnel and contribute to team-based projects
- Write work orders and purchase laboratory operating supplies as needed
- Enter incident and accident reports and address safety concerns
- Utilize appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) based on site and task requirements
- Perform duties both inside the laboratory and in the field on plant process equipment
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a science or technical field or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Minimum of 8 years in the chemical process industry with a strong background in laboratory operations and analytical procedures
- Working knowledge of LIMS and SAP QM systems
- Familiarity with ASTM methods, policies, and practices
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team-based environment
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Ability to lift and carry testing equipment and work in various physical and environmental conditions
- Ability to interpret technical instructions and apply scientific thinking to solve problems
- Comfortable with shop math including fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions
- Experience preparing technical reports, summaries, and participating in discussions and presentations
