Deloitte Tax LLP seeks a Tax Manager in Chicago, Illinois.
Work You’ll Do
Review U.S. international tax compliance forms. Review work papers to support U.S. Tax compliance. Review and deliver tax memoranda on various U.S. federal income tax issues. Perform tax research on U.S. federal income tax issues. Provide clients comprehensive U.S. tax analysis and project management services for implementing corporate reorganizations, mergers, acquisitions, and other restructuring transactions. Advise clients on potential U.S. tax planning strategies based on their global tax profiles, highlighting anticipated tax benefits. Coordinate with foreign jurisdictions on the implementation of cross-border transactions. Supervise the full lifecycle of engagements, including staffing, budgeting, and closing out projects.
Requirements
Master's degree in Accounting, Finance, Law, Business Administration, or related field (willing to accept foreign education equivalent) plus three (3) years of experience as a Tax Manager or related occupation performing tax planning, reporting and compliance for U.S. multinational corporations.
Experience must include three (3) years of:
- Reviewing international tax compliance forms and informational returns, including Forms 1120, Form 1065 and applicable international informational returns and attachments or disclosures and statements;
- Analyzing work papers to calculate Section 861 deductions, interest expense allocation to estimate the U.S. income tax liability of foreign corporations;
- Advising clients on various international tax issues, including subpart F, GILTI, overall foreign loss, transfers, and developing optimal tax structures for corporate restructuring, corporate reorganization, and mergers and acquisitions;
- Performing tax due diligence to identify tax attributes and propose optimal tax structures to maximize the utilization of tax attributes, reduce cash tax expense and reduce effective tax rates, and reviewing client prepared work papers to validate assumptions, facts, and tax technical analysis;
- Performing passive foreign investment company (PFIC) analysis and testing to determine appropriate filing requirements and U.S. federal income tax consequences;
- Assisting with writing tax memoranda on various U.S. federal income tax issues, and reviewing tax transaction slide decks, legal step plans, and historical tax documents to identify tax treatment of transactions and determine outside stock tax basis;
- Utilizing CCH, BNA, Lexis Nexis and RIA Checkpoint to research various U.S. federal income tax issues and analyze tax rules and regulations of foreign jurisdictions;
- Preparing and delivering complex tax computation projects for clients in diverse industries, and assisting clients with their implementation of specific international tax structures and processes in a project management capacity, and facilitating brainstorming sessions, both internally and with clients, including non-tax stakeholders (treasury, accounting, and legal);
- Coordinating with foreign jurisdictions on the implementation of cross-border transactions and conducting due diligence for cross-border transactions, including providing insights on tax considerations associated with acquisitions or divestitures of operating businesses; and
- Interacting directly with senior management of the team and clients to discuss issue resolution and continuity, and assisting with the full lifecycle of engagements, including staffing, budgeting, and closing out projects.
Approximately 50% domestic travel required.

Hours: M-F, 40 hours/week;
Annual Salary: $116,620.00 - $216,580.00
